Funnily enough, Scotiabank has a huge Latin America presence (the biggest of any Canadian bank), and plenty of Latin Americans I know aren't aware it's a Canadian bank. They'd been banking with Scotiabank even before they moved to Canada, and didn't even realize.

Walked by the development on Mercer this afternoon – I'm usually not even the biggest hater of facadism, but these facades are really bad. Sterile beyond belief...Disneyland or the Venetian in Las Vegas feel more realistic.

Wow, Devonshire Place will be completely filled out in the next few years. Between what Trinity College is building on the parking lot, the Academic Wood Tower, and this new Rotman project, plus what's opened over the last decade at Goldring and Munk School, this street really is maxed out now.

Walked through the inner walkways today for the first time in a few months. Things are more coming together now. If you can, definitely visit it while it's still in this construction phase... pictures don't really do the sense of scale justice. You really feel that sense of ambition and vision...

Taken this weekend –such a large project in scale. Didn't realize PointClickCare is moving into this building! I've always known them as having the big former Target Canada HQ in Mississauga near Pearson Airport.

Ugh, as gorgeous as this building is, the latest photos of that glass podium really are a let down. Still ultimately very excited for this project, but could have been made even better so easily.

Was also here on a recent weekday evening! Still can't get over how pretty this interior space is.

Taken yesterday afternoon. This iconic angle between the TD towers where the CN Tower used to peek through... is now all-TD, everywhere.

Definitely doesn't seem difficult for TIFF to resell this spot. RBC is already a major sponsor and could step up further – alternatively, I always thought that putting aside RBC's present sponsorship slot, Scotiabank often felt like a natural fit, given they already have made such a branded...

Count me among those pleasantly surprised by the lighting features!! Given its location, it was already going to be a prominent feature of that classic CN Tower observation angle, but even more so if there's this colourful light show every night.

Snapped this photo recently on my way home. The revitalized glass roof (largely done on the Queen St side) really is quite nice. I was also recently listening to a podcast on the history of retail in Toronto, and it mentioned that the Eaton Centre was meant to be inspired by European shopping...

To be fair, CIBC Square is pretty great, as is TD's new 160 Front St W (and as far as we know, that won't be the new TD head office...I sure hope not)... just this new building by Scotiabank is very particularly uninspired. Agreed either way that none of this matches the original bank towers –...

Agreed. Scotia Plaza (down to its obviously deliberate material colour) was purpose-made to be an iconic head office for a global institution... this new building is every glass box everywhere (and not even a gorgeous glass box like the new Ontario Courts of Justice).

Probably unlikely (given they're not even on the street-level board AFAIK), but Netflix sure would be nice... If Shopify hadn't pulled out of this space I could imagine they'd take it. Maybe Toronto Star?
