    Still pouring noisily tonight.

Fond memories of Oliver's Bistro, on Yonge north of Eglinton.

More on Enigma: I had a look at chef/owner Quinton Bennett's Instagram page - it turns out he's one of those F**k Trudeau, pro-convoy people. I've lost my appetite.

Actually they have three different pairings from what I can tell: non-alcoholic, cocktail, or wine. I didn't find anything about the cost, though. It's one of those "if you need to ask..." things.

Michelinflation: The top tasting menu at Enigma Yorkville (on St. Thomas) is now $450 per person (though it includes a non-premium wine pairing).

Indeed, the location is between the Manulife Centre main entrance and the Eataly entrance.

Perhaps, but storage space is also lacking. I cook from scratch practically every day and I need my 30-pound KitchenAid and my food processor on the countertop; fortunately, my Manulife kitchen is vastly larger than anything on Forma's current floor plans. I don't get why anyone would agree to...

Toronto gets its own Michelin Guide

Canoe was my go-to place after Truffles (Four Seasons) closed. But it got a bit banal after a while. I remember Lotus, Lee's restaurant before he opened Susur, where I started using as a joke what I called the Susur Unit, an amount meant to suggest how much a restaurant meal would cost. I'm...

Toronto gets its own Michelin Guide

I had Alobar takeout almost weekly for a while, but I am surprised it got a star. Alo goes without saying. It used to be my favourite restaurant, but I haven't been since they introduced blind tasting menus, and they don't seem as keen to accommodate dietary restrictions as they used to be. I...

Toronto gets its own Michelin Guide

Helicopter servers are the worst. I once had a very similar experience at Scaramouche, but more memorably at a Relais & Châteaux inn somewhere in the Charlevoix region of Québec. We were alone in the restaurant at the time... I felt like saying "thank you, you're dismissed"! Thankfully, our...

Toronto gets its own Michelin Guide

I only tried a single restaurant with a Michelin star: Les Ambassadeurs, the main restaurant at Hôtel de Crilllon in Paris, before their renovations. It was in the spectacularly lavish setting of what is now their bar. It had a level of service I never experienced before or since, and the food...

That's a Toronto Community Housing building, so that's really the last building we should get rid of in the neighbourhood.

🦗🦗🦗 Can't help you there. The food court at Scotiaplaza (the closest to my office) was totally renovated but the only places that have reopened so far are the same old ones. Ugh. There will be a Market Street Catch, and that in itself is mildly original, but it's not open yet. But that was...

Pret A Manger coming to Canada!

That display above reminds me a lot of a small restaurant chain called Picnic; they were below 60 Bloor West, further east on Bloor near Church and at the Exchange Tower I think. Pre-made sandwiches and salads, etc. It was quite good but they didn't survive the pandemic as far as I can tell.
