It’s great to really see this progress but I’m really wondering if they can get this completed in time. They’re supposed to be done in 2022, I’m no expert, I just don’t know if that’s going to be possible.

Westbank's website mentions they originally anticipated completion to be in 2022. The phases on the interior of the site, especially the ones expected to line Markham Street will undoubtedly take longer than that. Possibly 2023 or 24 for everything altogether.

However, based on the progress of work on the buildings along the Bathurst side so far, it seems reasonably possible that residents could start moving in to them within the latter part to end of 2022.

Yes but there are supposed to be some sort of retail establishments going in near Gate 3 of construction. That’s basically Markham and Bloor. Do you really think those places won’t be ready until 2023 or 2024?

I stand by my original comment. The whole section fronting Bathurst is ahead and could be on pace for occupancy towards the latter half of 2022 if work continues at a swift pace. Followed by the tower just west of the corner tower at the Bathurst & Bloor intersection, which looks next in terms of gradual progress made so far.

The interior portions of the site, especially the block on the west side of Markham Street will take longer considering there hasn't been significant above grade work evident yet. 2023 or possibly 2024 for the entire project altogether is not out of the ordinary, including the public realm and park work.

Thanks for sharing your comments and opinion. Would happen to know if there’s any actual way of finding this out from the developers? Are you working at the site and is this why you think it will take that long?

No, I do not work at this site. I'm just accustomed to observing construction patterns and movements in this city.

I don't believe there's a possible way to find exact dates as construction relies on different variables that can change. But your best bet is to articulate your question on an email to the Ellis Don, the construction management company in charge of this project and hope they'll be able to direct this inquiry to the appropriate team or communications person who can help address this.

Albert is not too far off. I work for a subcontractor on site and that is where they are realistically tracking at. Stud and drywall has started about a month ago on the NE towers at L3,4,5,6.

Here are some notable milestones coming up:

Nov/Dec 2021
- Precast/Windows complete SE Building
- SE Crane Dismantle
- NW Building (27 floors) forming structure complete (east of Markham)
- Heritage House structural additions complete (4 floors)

Dec 2021/Jan 2022
- Markham West standalone Building forming structure complete (10 floors)

Late Spring/Early Summer 2022
- SW Building forming structure complete (19 floors)

Summer 2022
- Precast/Windows Complete NE, NW (both June/July-ish) & west standalone Buildings (May-ish)
- Crane Dismantles x4 (mid/end July)

Late Fall/Winter
- SW Building Precast/Windows complete (Nov/Dec)
- Last crane dismantle (Dec/Jan 2023)

The first three completed towers are looking to have interior finishes for the residential portions completed as early as late summer 2022 and roll into 2023 on the higher floors. The other three towers will follow into the later months of 2023. Given the substantial amount of precast on the project (~4500-5000pcs. total), a lot of interior schedule is dependent on the completion of windows and precast (of course).

Hope this helps!

Thanks for these detailed outlines on the milestones. It seems like their original estimate of being ready in 2022 is out the window based on what you’re saying. But I guess that’s construction, nothing’s ever done in time.

It is also a shame if you’re a retailer that is waiting on any of these spaces being ready in 2022, you’ve basically got to shelve those plans and wait it out for another year.

Was having a look through the Mirvish Village website.

Have these renderings ever been shared? Apologies if yes but I don't think I've personally seen them before! The website also has a lot of interesting/fun graphics.
I wonder if we'll still see some red brick incorporated in the towers? 🤔
