If that implies less than a decade, I would sincerely ask who is paying for the bridges, and the transit.

I don't see it, but you may well have insight I do not.
Fair enough, I suppose.

Though I did not read your post as being that specific, but perhaps that was my oversight.

Regardless...........unless PE corrects me............. I see no reason to believe this will be happening..........for a very long time, if ever.
Same page. All I'm saying is 5 or 10 years and 30 or 50 years are very different things. That also implies I believe we'll all still be here in 30-50 years which...

^All good points but I will put forward the following: this is a very large concept that will have a degree of ‘15 minute’ built in thus one is not walking, scootering, driving for everything. Also this will provide STUNNING views which is powerful on top of a being a unique amenity. Finally, though it is thought of as being isolated/distant from everything the areas to the north are rapidly developing and this is in a growing number of people’s backyard. Leslieville is a 5-7 minute über as is Cherry and Commissioners.

Palace Pier anyone?!

Well.........that's certainly a long time..............

You're still a youngin..........so you're chances seem decent.......*. @DSCToronto might still be under 110 so we can't rule him out either.

* I just pictured you as a grandpa.........wearing an ugly Christmas sweater.......... very weird.......... just sayin..... 🤣

Villiers Island's completion will be in 20 years.... so this one will be in like 30 years I am guessing. A lot could have changed, the plan prolly will look different by then.

^Interesting. Though I see why some might see development happening in a strict sequence I am seeing signals of multiple projects moving early on.

Nobody knows how long this will take however I'm very pleased that this proposal has started. Everything has to start somewhere and this is the beginning. The complaining has already started. Where is the excitement and enthusiasm ? This is city building and this will take time. I only hope I will live to see this happen.

^Yes! Meanwhile uses are likely to come first similar to what is being done in Downsview. And there is a lot of excitement in the relevant circles as they appreciate how significant the announcement of a new district is.

Also most commenting haven't actually been there (surprise!) and probably aren’t familiar with how much the southeast part of Central Toronto has changed.

This has been my dream to see the Hearn be developed, for a really long time. Never thought it would actually happen and so i’m absolutely ecstatic about the possibility. It could be so heavily loved by locals and tourists alike. Hope it gets turned into a cultural centre.

Just a few images of The Hearn from Villiers Island to give a sense of visual presence. Now imagine 14 towers of ~500 units each on either side and it give a sense of how immediate this district will become!

I hope that's interesting in that how these plans are coming together. And not interesting that I would show up to a long belated opening in adult diapers... >.<
