It definitely looks like there will be glass fins/panels to cover the mechanical box on the roof. Here is a rendering from the UT Database page:

Sorry, but that rendering is from before this drawing from the approved Minor Variance application:

That is one of the drawings showing the mechanical box but there’s another drawing showing the mechanical box will be covered. But anyway we will soon find out.
I asked for clarification from HPA, and I am told that the drawing is accurate sorry to say. HPA did not want to elaborate further.

So the architects themselves HPA told you the mechanical box will be fully exposed without any covering?
Well, the top 8 metres or so of it, mostly TMD up there, will be exposed, yes.

If that’s the case that’s very disappointing considering this is the signature tower of the whole project and the shorter/cheaper one next door has the mechanical level covered. Maybe they’re trying to cut costs last minute. Can’t say I’m shocked

...then it becomes the questioning of what's stopping them from extending the glass to cover the mechanical which was presumed by most of us. And I'm not sure I am buying the "cheapening" argument here, as they have spared little expense in constructing this so far. As I am also sure extending the glass aerodynamically would help aid the TMD business.

Sad to hear the news about the TMD being exposed... it would be so noticable from so many views around Toronto. Hopefully this changes, but I won't get my hopes up.
Anyways, here are a few photos from today:

I have a strong feeling that the parapet wall goes all the way past the TMD they just sliced it in the diagram to show how tall that part of the structure goes 0 though I might just be being hopeful
...and the people involved here are not saying much. So what you are saying can't be entirely ruled out either.

I agree, the drawing shows only 3 corner bands above the main full double band at the top of the residential floors, while the render shows four, as well as "divots" on the corners. This makes me believe the drawing is showing a cut off version of the crown just to highlight the mechanical area, and I find it hard to believe they'd abruptly cut off the previously planned crown for "cost savings" on the final product
