Oh I wouldn't say that with regards to the concrete work, they till have significant amount of pouring to do. If you add up the event level, club/mezz, main, suite, upper, and press level concourses, they are probably only 50% complete at best. Not to mention the restaurants, offices, practice rink, parking garage, and then all the precast slabs (not pouring, but significant) for the stands,
The point I was making is that once the major structural concrete work below ground is done the steel skeleton of the upper levels should go up pretty quick. Yes there's still other concrete work to be done above ground, but it's mostly with floor slabs, and the parkade.

Btw I the precast concrete stands are being made in Blackfalds.

Perfect weather for a stroll today. Enjoy!🔥

Noticed the school zone sign along 5a street. I wonder if that'll be permanent, or if it's just for during construction.

The city replaced all school zones with playground zones back in 2015. So yes it's technically a playground zone, but in all intents and purposes it acts as a school zone. I was just curious because I don't think the private school had a playground zone there previously.

Wouldn't say nothing was built. Cowboys casino was built along with the north expansion of the BMO Centre, along with the Stampede youth campus. The Stampede also bought all that land between 12th Ave and 14 Ave so they didn't really need to lobby anyone too hard to tear down the derelict structures there. And the Stampede never completed their plans for the land they bought simply because the economy slowed in the 2010s. And that's just the nature of being a boom and bust city, which we're all accustomed to. The Stampede has also done more to redevelop the land they bought in the neighborhood than Remington ever has.

I also disagree with the view that East Victoria Park would currently be anywhere close to Kensington, Ramsey, or Inglewood. The area was isolated between the Stampede and rail lines, which was the reason for it becoming a slum. Today, without serious redevelopment it would still be close to what East Village was around the time redevelopment started there.

I think people forget they even before the houses started disappearing from Victoria Park it was already a sketch neighborhood. All cities have sketchy neighborhoods, and they always end up in the least desirable area of the inner city.
Victoria park was never going to be like Kensington.
