I was here for a Toronto Rock game back on Dec 27 and thought the renos were really nice, though it still confirmed that this arena could never host an NHL team with those concourses. Still had a great time though.

I found it interesting that the concessions seemed to be unbranded (as in not Pizza Pizza, Tims, etc.). Also the new beer concession (where you tap your card first and the cameras supposedly track you to know what to charge) seemed to have never actually charged me for my beer, which I'm okay with. 😅

The TD Coliseum instagram account liked a post by Hilary Duff, where she was teasing a new song. Hilary and her husband were on a radio show a few weeks back, and accidentally let it slip that there is an arena tour in the works, happening after her current comeback tour. It looks like Hamilton could be one of the stops.

She's performed there 4 times before, and it was actually her first ever tour stop in Canada, back in 2004.

She got an award from the Mayor, during her stop in '06 or '07. I think it was for being the youngest to sell out the arena, or something along those lines.

There was +100,000 people in queue for her upcoming Toronto show at HISTORY, so she shouldn't have a problem selling out TD if it does get announced.

FYI, Joey Coleman suggests that the Salvation Army shelter could be moving imminently: https://bsky.app/profile/joeycoleman.ca/post/3mcfghv43kk2u

I've heard it's going somewhere on Victoria St by Hamilton General. Not sure exactly where, but by the sound of it it'll be in an existing structure if it will be "quick", so I'm curious where it ends up.

Most welcome news, looking forward to full details to be released!

...have we learned nothing from the huge improvement that occurred to James Street North when the shelter moved away from there? The part of Barton near the hospital is holding on by its fingernails and does not need the roughest homeless shelter in the city to be relocated anywhere near there. Seriously, why do all of these services need to be in or near downtown?

Edit, I wonder if it might be taking up the lease of 401 Victoria Ave N? It's new-build medical office building that looks like it's struggling to lease up. I could also see 414 Victoria St N as a possibility. It is marketed as the Hamilton Community Health Centre and includes a range of health-related services but has a ton of space that can't all be in use.

It has to go somewhere...

Easiest to move it to an area where there will be less opposition. And it does have to go somewhere.

i've only been there once since it reopened but i loved it. i sat in the loge seats for a Rock game and the seats were great, the stadium felt clean. I loved the beer selection. Partnering with Peroni is a breath of fresh air compared to the usual stadium drink options.

So hoity toit!

I imagine that people in the tight seats in the upper bowl who like drinking Canadian or Bud Light or Coors or whatever might have a different take!

I was a little concerned that the number of events in January seemed sparse, especially after comparing to the fast and furious start the first 6 weeks of it's opening.
But I see it picks up a bit in Feb. with 7 days of events, and 11 days in March (including bigger things like Twice (2 days) and the Junos).

It's been very quiet since the fall flurry. I assume that part of that is the holidays, but still... the only new thing announced in the last month-plus is a Charlie Puth concert. Charlie is an amazing artist, and I might even want to go, but it won't be a huge A-level event.
