16th Ave corridor coming our way!
There’s some good momentum going for 16th. Nice new BRT stops, lots of development. If we could ever stop it from being such a car sewer we’d really have something.16th Ave corridor coming our way!
I really wish the city would build a dedicated transitway on 16th Ave. from Crowchild Trail to Deerfoot Trail. There’s some good momentum going for 16th. Nice new BRT stops, lots of development. If we could ever stop it from being such a car sewer we’d really have something.
I feel old to have been around long enough to see the full cycle, the chaotic implementation and long-term negative development implications from the road widening project in the 2000s, finally giving way to a changing tide as market conditions and rule change overcame the problems of that improvement project. A long way to go, but great to see some progress! There’s some good momentum going for 16th. Nice new BRT stops, lots of development. I agree. While I'm not in love with on street parking, I find it helps slow down traffic, and probably the most important thing it does is provide a sound and vision buffer between traffic and the business storefronts. Our most vibrant corridor streets all have portions of on street parking. On 16th some sections, with traffic calming on the street corners, and sections for parking and transit would have a positive change without much money or effort.I feel old to have been around long enough to see the full cycle, the chaotic implementation and long-term negative development implications from the road widening project in the 2000s, finally giving way to a changing tide as market conditions and rule change overcame the problems of that improvement project. I don't see the evidence of culture change yet in the mobility decision-makers to think this is realistic anytime soon, but 16th Avenue strikes me as a rare street where simply adding street parking would be a quick-win to convert it to a better place. Probably doesn't need it everywhere either - just add parking in front of these new urban developments and their shops, without widening the road further.
Ultimately bus-only lanes and further public realm improvements would be even better, but obviously a much more involved and expensive upgrade.
No brainer move! Just give the MAX Orange the same love that the MAX Purple got. Check out what's possible in the same RoW (35 metres) - I used the situation on this block (facing east) as reference.I really wish the city would build a dedicated transitway on 16th Ave. from Crowchild Trail to Deerfoot Trail.
Bus only lanes in the median. Two car lanes in either direction. Same idea as what's been done on 17th Ave. in Forest Lawn.
Unfortunately I am not that good. But if I had to guess, F350 Super Duty.Ha, true, but it may be able to fit both inside of it. I'd be impressed if you could figure out what it is...
