This picture is actually a day older than trtcttc’s post but I thought I’d post it, mainly, because it shows the workers doing stucco.
Can you educate us on what you think is wrong?There's a set of long standing architectural rules that are best not broken and man it irritates me when they're ignored.

I think the design language is changing. Real brick as built a century ago would always go on the bottom, since it's heavy and supports the building. This is a wooden building with non-structural brick veneer cladding. As we old people die off, there will be young people who only know and accept the veneer. Personally, I think it adds some texture and looks better than stucco. It goes well with the "wood" siding which I presume is also not real. Overall I think it looks nice, especially in contrast to the ugly iyycburg building to the north (2 Ave & 19 St NW)one of the rules is brick should always go on the bottom half, not top?
