I wonder if this project would kill a future line on the HLB using streetcar ROW as it duplicates the alignment. That would be the only thing stopping me from supporting this…
I wouldn’t really see those as the same alignment in any way. They’re far apart, connect to completely different ends of downtown, and one stops in the middle often the valley.

There will be no train on the high level bridge, it structurally cant handle it. *quoting city engineering report.

In fact we should really start discussing what its replacement will be, as suspect and end of life date will be set and the upcoming refurbishment will be its last. money on <15 but >25 years.

I know, but I’m speaking to a new HLB and the idea of the festival line or something similar. To me, those are still completely different areas and what they’re serving is far apart. No one wants to get on a tram at gateway, go west to 109st, across the river, then back to Churchill/fairmont area somehow. Too circuitous. Gondola has merit as a direct route between major destinations with most importantly the rossdale connection.
