So far, the materials here far exceeds what I expected, but I'm preparing myself for the worse when the balconies start
Unfortunately, even if the materials turn out to be nice, the massing is terrible in my opinion, with endless and seemingly random setbacks all over the place. On a positive note, it will distract from Aura and its height and silhouette will add weight and visual interest to the skyline. Aa should have take over the design rather than just being the architect of record. The full block 1970s TMU building immediately to the east is better architecture.

aA are, IMO, one of the worst architects in the city. Their bland formula of window wall, and wraparound balconies gave us things like Casa I, Casa II, Casa III. This should've been Hariri Pontarini if it had to be a local architect.

I understand the frustration related to the aA reliance on the same formula over and over. Yet, they are capable of more. I wish the shorter tower at the Teahouse complex at 501 Yonge, for example, had been the taller of the two. It’s an interesting design. aA has a number of buildings that, at least, use more curtain wall than the average. This building may end up surprising us. And KPFs name is still on it. I just wish the original YSL design had been approved.

Considering all the other setbacks Toronto has endured over the previous months, years, decades and beyond, I find this particular building's setbacks to be quite pleasant.
