Economics of building a hi-rise in Edmonton just doesn't make sense right now.I am VERY out of the loop on this so apologies if this is covered in another forum and is super old news, but does anyone know why they didn't end up going with the 50-story tower in this location? This article is very old but references the taller tower: https://edmonton.skyrisecities.com/...e-westrich-pacifics-next-downtown-tower.38852
I have a view of this lot from my balcony so I'm excited to watch the progress and will hopefully be able to provide updates here if anyone is interesed![]()
... will it ever?
We technically have the DP happening for Falcon II, and the Switch Tower is supposedly starting this year (and the Connect Tower has plans for a tower coming soon), so not sure if it's fully doom and gloom for high rises yet.... will it ever?![]()
Developers with deeper pockets will PROBABLY be able to take the risk over some others...I have to imagine. We technically have the DP happening for Falcon II, and the Switch Tower is supposedly starting this year (and the Connect Tower has plans for a tower coming soon), so not sure if it's fully doom and gloom for high rises yet.
I did say probably, not for sure.Deeper pockets do not preclude prudent approaches.
Ah gotcha - thank you. That article was from 2019 - a lot has changed since then!Economics of building a hi-rise in Edmonton just doesn't make sense right now.
Is there a name for this building yet Ian?
Vantage Park.
