I gots no problem with a parking garage. Families arrive in cars. I know we dream that they come by GO Train and TTC and bicycles and pogo sticks, but rude awakening - families travel in cars
This is just not true. Look at the amount of families on the TTC and GO everyday. And if you really want to see families on transit, just take the GO train during the CNE.

It isn't fair to compare to CNE. Everyone around GTA gathers around CNE in 10 days, it is just impossible to not take transit
I wasn’t just referring to the CNE.

And either way, the idea that families just don’t use transit is still false. Many clearly do with or without the CNE.

Yes - those exact firms were posted in the post I quoted

I think they were responsible for the Oslo Opera House among other things, FYI...

...and of course Toronto Metropolitan University's Student Learning Centre

I hope the rumour is true. Their style would match Ontario Place while bringing their own modern twist.

The real tragedy is Therme's mistake by the lake and DoFo's parking garage are going to stain Eb Zeidler's masterpiece.

I despise Ford as much as anyone else and what he's doing with the Therme deal and shutting down the Science Centre with made up pretexts, all against the wishes of Toronto, is disgustingly corrupt but...

...I also think that Ontario Place is the perfect location for the Ontario Science Centre. It's the kind of venue that will properly activate the Cinesphere and the Pods and bring year round activity to the grounds that had lost their purpose in recent decades. If Therme miraculously doesn't get built, I'd be happy with the Science Centre as the lead anchor along with the Amphitheatre and a rebuilt park on the West Island.

The Cinesphere's IMAX screen was quite literally made for this. The pods provide space for exhibits and the grounds are great for class visits. It'll be downtown where the tourists are, guaranteeing it stable revenue, and I could see the Science Centre becoming an integral CNE pavilion in future years. And it's near the terminus station of a downtown subway within a 20 min walking distance to hundreds of thousands of homes.

Not to say that I agree that the Flemingdon Park building should've closed but that neighbourhood is expanding quickly and the Moriyama building would serve as a beautiful community centre.
