Having Stampede Park and the BMO right there has to be a big asset. Too bad the hotels in the area won't be completed. This might spur some other development along Stampede Trail though. They should invite Gary back for the Grey Cup festival, would give a little preview of what could be done.

If they did get to host it, could they speed up Autograph a bit so it's completed late 2027/early 2028? It should be possible.

I agree, which is why I would've kept the height but move concessions and washrooms to the outside wall. I just like the idea of the concourse being open to the bowl. I actually think it could improve concession sales, if you feel like you can go grab something during play without missing much, you'd be more likely to do it.
The primary issue is the stairs to the upper levels...those now nicely frame in around the concessions and bathrooms. If concessions and bathrooms are moved to the exterior wall you would now have a fire/emergency and concourse flow issue, with those stairs right in the middle of the concourse.

Re: the closed concourse, I would say I generally prefer an open concourse during a sporting event, but I think it matters less when it comes to an arena that will mostly be used for hockey and concerts. Obviously open concourses are superior for baseball and football stadiums, because there are lots of long stoppages, so there's a need to get up to use the concessions/washrooms, but most people get out of their seats between periods for hockey games, and I think some of the benefits of a closed concourse (better sightlines/proximity for the lower upper bowl, better acoustics and atmosphere, better conditions for concerts/comedy shows) outweigh the benefits of the open concourse in Calgary's use case. Thinking beyond hockey games, I've been to concerts at arenas with open concourses and they had to draw curtains across the entirety of the concourse, to varying effectiveness.

Fair enough about the stairs but you could move them to the exterior wall too. That concourse is pretty tall so the stairs could lead to a stacked washroom like in the PL at the dome and maybe some smaller concessions like they have in the dome now above the sections at the end that are open to the lower bowl.

I do agree though that what they've done is fine. The open concourse could be an issue when you want the bowl to be dark. I just really don't like the fact that there is just a wall in the bowl. I want to see them activate it somehow beyond selling Molson Canadian.

Shame about the lack of glazing, downtown view would be epic. Imagine a downtown view at night at a game. It's dark at game time for most games during the season. I get they would need to be curtained for some events.

The look of that open space is different than the rendering, looks like more of a party deck, with some kid of square framing on the left
