So are they removing the 5th Ave connector and turning it into park/pathways, or is the render just taking liberties to make the surrounding areas look nicer?

If you look at RiverWalk West, that is the plan. That plan needs to still be refined and funded though.

It looks like there's still a small lot to the west, with access from off of 6 Ave, WB only. Heading back downtown from there would require looping through that weird set of ramps/access roads near the old bus depot.

Though it's small enough that it might just be for staff/deliveries/handicapped parking, I'm not sure.

It was more or less a joke but maybe they're doing some underground parking under the new structure? Probably not.
