Look, new electric ferries and a naming competition. Pay no attention to the lack of progress on the "Harbour Landing" project and the fact that they are investing money on infrastructure that would be a regrettable spend if they push the docks back further into the harbour to allow more capacity landside.

Spending money to accomplish things in the short term that later becomes a waste because there is no funding for the actual long term plan is a chronic problem for the city. It's unfortunate, but our politicians don't want to approve things with large dollar budget numbers, so spending less money per year is valued more even if it ends up costing more in the end.

...it's fiscal conservatism over fiscal responsibility by public officials who mostly want to appeal to those who will never vote for them. Our infrastructure and public realms would be so much better if we moved away from that narrative altogether. Including here, IMO.

This is not the politicians fault it's the publics' who is against all tax increases.

It is also a problem with property taxes being considered to have gone up when the tax percentage has gone down. It should be that the percentage is set, and council needs to vote to reduce taxes to lower the percentage. The way they do property tax makes no sense from and ability to handle inflation perspective.
