Food court north escalators and washrooms now closed for renewal

What's the timing like for those? That could certainly impede business. A food court with no washrooms, and no entrance/exit capacity on one side.

Also....curious question for those in the know, but thinking about the capacity reduction here for entrance/exit........does this closure impact the legally permitted capacity of the Food Court? Surely it reduces evacuation capacity.

If I am not mistaken, they have a multitude of emergency exits on the side of the Food Courts in what is normally service corridors.

Now having said that, I believe they created additional temporary stairwells when they worked on the escalators at the southern end of the Food Court. Not sure if that is the plan here but it would make sense.

It also would not shock me if this was an oversight. Take the Queen Street exit for example, they only created an alternative exit point months after the work started.

One would hope if someone pinches a steaming loaf of the floor there they will open those back up in posthaste... >.<

Nike finally getting around to installing their final storefront windows. It’s 2 layers with panes of glass on the front, each with their own stripes so as you walk by, it creates a bit of an optical illusion.

Seems like every escalator is being replaced.
IIRC that is the plan. Every escalator (outside of the ones inside stores like H&M) will be modernised.

Not sure but maybe the staircase they added earlier in this renovation program was meant to solve for evacuation capacity during renovations.
