FWIW, I've heard that people who bought tickets in the new temporary stands for the Canada friendlies happening in the next few days have been notified that their seat location has been moved out of those stands.

Why can't they just keep the stadium upgraded and do concerts? what would this hold?

Its a football/ soccer stadium first and they don't need 45,000 seats for those teams. They have Rogers Stadium north of toronto and RBC Amphitheatre a couple hundred metres from here that host outdoor concerts. They don't need a 3rd outdoor concert venue.

Its too bad - rogers stadium is really in the middle of no where, RBC only holds 15K people...

Rogers Stadium only has 4 summers left. RBC will have 20k in the summer after renos which would still be much less than they could fit at BMO.

Soccer specific stadiums with natural or hybrid grass surfaces rarely are concert venues, because building temporary stages can damage the grass.

to build a multipurpose venue either BMO would have to go the turf route or they have to go super expensive like Madrid or Tottenham Hotspur stadium and have the grass surface on a conveyor belt that can be stored and maintained underneath or outside the stadium when not in use

Can confirm, I originally had 4 tickets for the Saturday match against Iceland in around the 5th row of the temp stands on the south side, just checked my Ticketmaster and they moved us to section 211.
Looks like despite all the media attention this week, the upgrades are in fact not done.

I think it's more likely they didn't sell out lower sections and are moving people to lower sections or upper sections in East and west stands.

The new lower seats are being used in the north today.

Any updates to the concourse, concessions and bathrooms? Last time I was there, they were pretty rough (being kind here). Also, the lineups for the washrooms were already horrendous at half time for the original capacity without adding these extra 15,000 seats. Please tell me that the under the bleachers high school arena experience is being cleaned up and that they built more washrooms, not just adding porta potties for the World Cup.

I didn't notice any new washrooms.

But I also didn't really look around

Here's a Twitter thread of people complaining about the concourses.

It will be interesting to see, though I've also heard from a few sources that demand for tickets from people outside the regions of the games has actually been unexpectedly low.
There's a CBC news story about FIFA having recently released a hold on over 10,000 hotel rooms in Vancouver seeing they were getting few takers for the trip and ticket packages.
It could be because long-distance travel costs have risen so much, and much of the world economy in chaos, people from far off places are questioning whether to go or use the cash for something else more practical.
