The Jays are drawing crowds again too. Not since the 90s has Toronto had a SkyDome full of people funnelling through downtown towards Front and Blue Jays Way in the regular season.

I've overlaid World Cup games in Toronto with the Blue Jays schedule in June. Suffice to say, it's going to be complete anarchy on June 12, 23 and 26.

And if the Raptors make it to the NBA finals which are in June... 😳
Yikes. definitely looks like a Get The Hell Out of Dodge the night of Thursday the 11th.
Don't know where I would go, or what I would do, but that's definitely a time to pencil in a vacation day for that Friday.

You definitely don't need to worry about that last sentence

All the world cup games are early in the day, between 12-6pm I believe. This shouldn't be as big a problem.

There are a few 7pm games.
Yeah youre right, just checked

That June 23rd game, both the Jays and the World Cup games start at 7pm. Gonna be "fun" to be downtown!

Blast from the past:

Let's get through the Women's World Cup and Pan Ams first.

Also BMO Field is extraordinarily easy to expand in order to seat 40,000+.

Not only does it have 2/4 sections which can be expanded, it has the swaths of space in the surface parking lots to temporarily expand it!

It certainly has come a long way in retrospect. They boiled that frog real slowly. Give it another 20 years and we'll be ready to host a World Cup.

As a soccer fan, my optimistic hope is that the world cup is a catalyst for the sport in the country and there's both an economic and political push to make this our national stadium with a permanent expansion to 50k+ capacity in the next decade.

Like you said theres too much space to not take advantage of the opportunity.
