how so? i've been on stands like that many times at F1 Montreal and Rogers Stadium and they're incredibly stable. are you seeing something in that immense amount of scaffolding (that will be covered) that others do not?that doesn't look very stable
I guess so..The main thing BMO field has going for it is that it's built in a soccer specific configuration despite having CFL played on it. The lowest seats are at ground level not 10m above to accomodate the large american football benches.
This means the seats are much closer to the field than a traditional NFL or multipurpose venue so any expansion temporary or permanent, no matter how janky they look, will create a great atmosphere and viewing angles even in the worst seats due to the steep stands.
Ahem. That's CANADIAN football.The main thing BMO field has going for it is that it's built in a soccer specific configuration despite having CFL played on it. The lowest seats are at ground level not 10m above to accomodate the large american football benches.

Question - have you sat on temporary bleacher seating like that before?good thing the pictures are in the dark so no one can see how scary dangerous the seating looks
This whole thing is kinda weird, a free max capacity ticketed event is what i thought it was going to be in the first placeThe Mayor amended the item, potentially creating a free ticket option, so that when it hits council everyone can debate and decide whether they want to have;
City Council direct the Executive Director, FIFA World Cup 2026, Toronto Secretariat to create a free general admission ticket category for FanFest.
Staff rationalized that ticketing and charging a small fee helps manage crowd sizes, let vendors better prepare, and that 10 is a price point that’s low but people take seriously (ie will actually show up). There’s obviously a cost recovery component to it. Chow also mentioned that police and RCMP said there’s no way it should be unticketed.
I feel a bit conflicted… $10 isn’t much, but multiple games or multiple people would add up. It definitely would help manage crowds, and maybe even encourage people to go to the free events, like at Nathan Philips Square. A couple councillors hinted at an unnamed individual who wasn’t there but is promoting the event when they want but then chastising staff and the mayor over the cost, even though it was a decision under Tory. Can only imagine it’s Bradford and it’s funny he’s garnering a he-who-shall-not-be-named reputation.
