Noticed some interesting fencing has gone up directing traffic to various parts of the building. Any guesses what this is about?

That puzzled me for a second because I was focused on where those paths led to until I looked instead at what is blocked off.

The open paths are optional use that keep people out of the areas that are still being worked on. On the left, people can take either one of those open paths into the lobby avoiding the main plaza which is still being worked on and avoiding the tree well that needs to be clad in granite. On the right, it opens the path between the still closed plaza and the alleyway that needs to be paved.

Looks like they're getting ready to open ahead of a deadline while finishing up the areas that need some final TLC.

Makes sense

I just walked past the Yonge St. site. The sidewalk is poured. I thought of taking a photo but I think your view will better show off what's been done @Civdis

Over on the Bay Street side, air blades were being installed in the lobby doorways and the ceiling has been given a coat of paint.

The sidewalk and curbs are actually stone, as on Yonge side. Looking good! Now to get the City to repave Yonge between Front and Lake Shore and fix the sidewalks!

Yes stone curbs fronting the CIBC property, but they poured the connecting concrete city sidewalk leading up to it on the Yonge side. It's all one connected sidewalk now whereas before there was a misaligned curb, a relic from the previous laneway. Those fences could come down as soon as tomorrow when the sidewalk is cured and you'll have a continuous sidewalk at least to the tunnel. Bit by bit, we're getting this public space back.

please please pretty please! The asphalt on northbound Yonge under the rail corridor is atrocious. Almost dangerous. I will try to grab a pick tonight.

Would also love to see the everything under the tracks painted off white just to brighten it up a little.

That would last half of one night. The mural in the Simcoe tunnel seems to have held up against graffiti last time I checked, so maybe invite some artists to spruce it up and keep it maintained against tagging.

The tunnel below the berm on Yonge (in particular) is in real need of some work. The sidewalks have trip hazards, the road surface is very uneven and the lighting is unsafe. The City has said for several years it would be done once CIBC finished work - time to get on with it!! I just asked Councillor_Malik@toronto.ca

Did anyone answer you? I tried to get them to relocate a sign and got no response for weeks. I only got through to them because I saw her in Nathan Phillips Square being interviewed for something and I approached her staff who acknowledged it was a problem and did reach back to me via email the next day. 2 years later and the sign is still there, in the wrong spot. Good luck.

To be fair, I only emailed the Councillor 5 minutes ago BUT I have been talking to her office for about 5 years about the VERY poor condition of Yonge Street, in particular. She obviously does not fix things herself but she can, IF SHE GETS ENOUGH EMAILS, try to get transportation to get with it!
