I guess I'm the only one here who kind of likes this design (although I'm not familiar with the earlier designs). It is understated and simple and will probably age well, and it somewhat echos the Empire State in a modern way. It may lack some razzle dazzle, but personally i've never been much of a fan of cheap thrills and parlour tricks.
 
Anyone else here think that the spire is too ridiculously large? I know they really want to hit that magic 1776, and obviously a building that large is just as huge a liability, but the spire looks soo cheesy. The rest of the building is OK but spurn the spire.
 
turboskyline^ that was my thought exactly. Now it is a fairly common building (probably shorter that the original), but with a huge antenna. wow.
