  1. Ottawan

    Toronto | Bijou on Bloor | 48.46m | 12s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

Taken yesterday, the leveling out of the site (excluding the remaining cinema shell) using what appears to be gravel fill has progressed a fair bit:

    Toronto | 2345 Yonge | 130.2m | 36s | RioCan | DIALOG

Since Riocan also intends to redevelop the office building at 2323 Yonge, I would propose looking at that site and this one together as a single redevelopment, and rearranging it so that all the replacement office is in one location. Of course this is a pipe dream, but my proposed solution...

    Toronto | 401 Bay Street (formerly Simpson Tower) | 143.86m | 33s | Cadillac Fairview | WZMH

After more than five long years of horrendous scaffolding around the base of the building, all I can say is ... PLEASE PUT THE SCAFFOLDING BACK Even that was better than this.
  4. Ottawan

    Toronto | The Dylan 2 Condominium | 94.35m | 28s | Chestnut Hill | Kirkor Architects

This is an important intersection for the neighbourhood, and if the park dedication is onsite, locating it at the corner could work if it were designed to be a mostly hardscaped "public square" type gathering place. I like that at least some retail is retained, and the density and massing seem...

    Toronto | 255 Berkeley | 17.29m | 4s | Home Leader Communities | Architect Ravi Doiphode

Poulett St. is a glorified lane. This is basically laneway housing infill and is an easy win.
  6. Ottawan

Bombardier Downsview Lands (Northcrest-Canada Lands, Henning Larsen)

The concept that it is mostly 5 to 8 storey structures (although I suspect this is for the core of the site and there will be taller near the subway stations as indicated in the consultation to-date) is a bit undersized to me. If the range were even more like 6 to 12 storey structures, I think...
  7. Ottawan

BP South (The Baby Point Inc, 3s, ?)

It finally happened, the site is for sale:
  8. Ottawan

    117 Jackson St E (Hamilton, ?, 38 + 42s, G+C)

It only has to one-up the architectural quality of Landmark Place, though...
  9. Ottawan

    851 Lawrence Rd (Hamilton, ?, 16s, ?)

This one is like a satirical take on what people imagine Hamilton to be all about.
  10. Ottawan

399 Greenhill Ave (Hamilton, Medallion, 9-20s, IBI Group)

I don't know. I find the freehand drawing to be charming.
  11. Ottawan

    Victoria Glen (Markham, ?s, ?s)

I am glad to see this appears to mostly consist of townhomes. Based on the sister threads you created, other blocks feature large amounts of detached homes, which I think is misguided, particularly on greenfield developments, given the housing & climate crises.
  12. Ottawan

CF Grand Market District (Kitchener, Cadillac Fairview, ?s, Roy Higgs International)

Glad some of the old facade was preserved. Preserving that would be far more authentic than the pastiche industrial vibe. The overall use of brick is nice, but the amusement park water tower and smokestack are too much.
  13. Ottawan

Young Condos (Kitchener, Andrin, 25s, BDP Quadrangle)

You weren't kidding. You're really on a roll today!
  14. Ottawan

Hillhurst Towns (1202 Avenue Road, 3Arc Development, 3s, Peter Higgins)

This is well on its way to completion. Taken September 27:
  15. Ottawan

    Toronto | 340 St.Clements | 13.7m | 3s | Balder | Arch. Unfolded

No work has been done, other than painting the existing buildings grey for some reason. Taken September 27:
  16. Ottawan

    Toronto | The Briar | ?m | 3s | Plaza | Richard Wengle

Shockingly little has been done here over the course of a year. Taken September 27: I wonder what it costs to have that excavator sitting there doing nothing for a year...
  17. Ottawan

    Toronto | 412 Marlee | 36m | 10s | Altree | Graziani + Corazza

Some pics of this site, taken Monday September 27:
  18. Ottawan

7647 Kennedy Road (Markham, Glen Rouge Homes, 3s, ?)

Taking one single family home with a large lot on an arterial and turning it into 31 townhomes. For the suburbs, this is good intensification.
  19. Ottawan

    Toronto | The One | 338.3m | 94s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

In terms of speed, I don't think it should be much of a surprise that the current level is taking so long. It is where the elevator core for the tower originates. This is the most complex floor in the entire building. I think it will speed up just a bit through the rest of the hotel section...
