    Uniqlo

I agree, however, I have been stung bu Uniqlo's inconsistent sizing between countries. It's my own fault, in retrospect, by not trying more stuff on, but their sizing in Japan is different than the UK which is different than the US. So I now know to try stuff on. But I still spend a small...

    Square One Shopping Centre

That's a clever way to get rid of that less-desirable dead-end space - create one big store with frontage on the main corridor.

You're right. But in this case, it's the cycling programs that have sold out first. And filled with roadies, from what I could see.

To those questioning the popularity of the non-event programming at the Velo, virtually all classes are now sold out, with big waiting lists. Even memberships are almost sold out. So far, a massive success. But it needs to maintain momentum.

Seeing that 2011 Streetview photo makes for an interesting comparison. That same road is now a six-lane arterial with bikes lanes and multi-use paths. Every road leading to the velodrome has bike lanes and paths. And I took transit there yesterday. So it's far from perfect, and still surrounded...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

A few pics I took last night. Very nice facility from the small glimpse I had (only the upper observation level is open for the event). The finishes were to a higher standard than other town facilities. The location is tricky, as there is no on-site event parking, but transit worked well.

    Target

    Very tiny indeed.

    Target

On a different topic, I noticed that the newest version of the Target app includes Canadian stores. It's a tiny step in the right direction.

This has to be one of the most dramatic renovations of any GTA mall - not a gradual change like Square One, Sherway or Yorkdale. But then, they left it without any changes for so long.

Interesting. I know they wanted to re-build it as a one storey location, but I guess the costs would have been prohibitive.

Target opens August 1. They rebuilt it as a one-story store, right?

    Square One Shopping Centre

Good move for both HBC and the mall - it was never a good fit anyway (although it was a convenient cut-through at times). Was that space going be incorporated into the expansion anyway?

Oh, it does. More plain, but classier by far. Do you think they will have the interior done by Christmas?

    Target

The article was written like a forum response, with language like "doom it to irrelevance" that, to me, made it come off as biased - not unlike the buzzfeed or Huffpost type photos of sad, empty shelves that circulated a few months ago. I am not saying that Target wouldn't say the launch was...

    Target

That article - like many others - had quite the Target hate on. I can't quite figure out why, but I recall Walmart got a similar reception back in the day. All I know is that I happily shop Target, get great deals and truly enjoy the experience of having attentive customer service...something...

So was that section of the underground parking in the last photo sealed off? It looks pristine. I remember the 'pit' that was left for years in the 90s when they added Cityside (eventually)...neat to see it dug up again.

Sigh...it's sad to see it go, but these photos really do show how dated the mall is today. It's virtually unchanged from when I saw the midnight premiere of Jurassic Park there.

Getting a Brothers store too? I think that will be a Canadian first (as the father of two young boys, this is a welcome addition).

    Toronto Premium Outlets (Halton Hills)

That's pushing it is a bit. Birch Run is a hell of a haul from Detroit. Great Lakes Crossing might be a better comparison based on proximity. Most of the Premium Outlets are located outside of the cities they are named after...Las Vegas and Orlando are two that come to mind. I have found that...

The small park in front of the entrance is a nice touch as well...looks similar to what they are doing on the north side expansion.
