    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Reliability improvement really means widening headways to increase trip time which leads to longer waits in hopes buses would have enough run times. This leads to more riders waiting at every stop making any delays create bigger ripple effects. In turn they yet again widen the headway to...

    Toronto | Crosstown Line 5 West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The city is powerless. Ford revoke the ability for Toronto city council to plan any major transit projects. So they can spend hours debating all they want.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Let's see if the PC would have any new subway announcement soon. Perhaps Sheppard extension would be on top of the list? I don't see an announcement to extend the OL happening till the finalize what kind of trains they will use.

I believe there is a safety requirement on how deep the TBM needs to be before being used. That’s something like at least twice the diameter. If they just used it in shallow condition like this tunnel, all the houses will feel the vibration that can possibly knock them down.

It will have to be cut and cover or mined. Mount Dennis Station isn’t that deep under so there’s no way they can even think of TBM.

Many hope they would open something more. They could do this and another site.

BUT they have yet indicate when they'll actually bypass Morriston which could take a whole decade.

The headwall construction at Martin Grove is well underway now. In the last two weeks, they setup work zones and now have laid the asphalt for the temporary bus stop for the westbound 32A.

The blue and red lights would definitely be useful on the surface section during dark gloomy nights.

Owning is one thing. Maintenance and policing is another. Until it is close to breaking even, I don't see it happening.

I believe the agreement was ML will resurface and rebuild the roadway adjacent to the surface portion and immediate roadway next to each underground stations. The roadway in between each station however falls under TO's problems. Which caused a fuss cause construction equipment needs to be moved...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

First Safety. Second Operation. It's the same reason why there's signs, traffic light and drivers licensing for roads. Unlike cars, trains don't stop in a short distance and operators can't see around the bend in the tunnel. There needs a protection layer to prevent crashes, inexperience...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

TTC didn't have signaling system equipment on the trains back then. It was a simple block system that passed a current under a low voltage through the axle to detect a train. The operator followed the signals and if they fail to do so, a trip arm activates to stop the train. It wasn't till more...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

When it's time to replace the signaling system (e.g. TTC Line 1), there would likely be a major improvement that allows things that can't be achieved today to happen.

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

From this article: https://www.railwaypro.com/wp/thales-to-provide-cbtc-solution-for-torontos-finch-west-lrt/ How many SelTrac systems do they have? Also, the HuLRT would be using the signalling system from Hitachi Rail STS https://www.hitachi.ca/about/press/details/10212019.html They...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

They did a RFP for the entire project out and let the consortium find a subcontractor to install whatever signal system. ML just sign out and tender. Chances is it would be hard to find anything else that can run on Eglinton cause ATO is needed and needs a dedicated set of computers unless it...

    TTC/Metrolinx: Scarborough Subway Extension

Me either. They’ll have an expensive battery replacement program half way through the bus’ life. Could they keep the buses longer than diesel buses is the question. I guess TTC really doesn’t want to maintain a trolley bus infrastructure although I don’t see why that would be such a hard task...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Unlike most province, Ontario like Quebec see themselves above Canada and never places their number inside the Trans Canada signs. Instead it’s just a sign that tags along with the provinces own highway shield. That is if they remember to put it up. Also they don’t treat it as one important...

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

Thanks for the update @drum118 Given the current progress, I am not surprised if this creeps into mid 2023. I been through this section earlier in February and I really don't see it finishing this year.
