I'm confused, I thought the zoning application had been refused?

    Toronto | 88 Isabella | 203.35m | 62s | Capital Developments | Diamond Schmitt

62 stories seems like a bit of a stretch for this location, isn't it? I think they'll have to chop a few stories to get it approved.

    Toronto | 30 Scollard | 230.89m | 61s | Constantine Enterprises | CAL

The approved height is 308m, and that's what will be used when evaluating this proposal. But either way, just take a look at steveve's diagram - this building makes a very conspicuous breach in the clothesline. Just like they said 260m at Bay & Bloor was "too tall" because it doesn't adequately...

    Toronto | 30 Scollard | 230.89m | 61s | Constantine Enterprises | CAL

I'd be willing to bet the City will consider this "too tall" because it doesn't step down from the height peak at Bloor.

    Toronto | 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

Looking forward to watching this peek into my view.

    Toronto | 415 Yonge | 229.9m | 69s | Marwest | Kirkor Architects

I also like the tower itself but the way it's stuck on top of the existing building looks pretty ridiculous. I agree with @UtakataNoAnnex this seems unlikely to be a serious proposal.

    Toronto | The HUB | 257.85m | 57s | Oxford Properties | Rogers Stirk Harbour

My understanding is that Oxford is not saying the building will be completed by 2025; they're saying that IF they found a tenant then it could be ready by 2025. I seem to recall them previously saying that it would be ready in 2023, then they said 2024... By next year if they still don't have...

    Toronto | The One | 338.3m | 94s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

The general sentiment was very much the opposite. A lot of people (especially Mike Layton) seemed angry that Mizrahi had originally proposed around 338m several years ago, but after negotiations with the City they reached an agreement of 307m. The case was supposed to be closed, but now suddenly...

    Toronto | The One | 338.3m | 94s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

I attended the consultation so I can confirm that councilor Layton is pretty strongly opposed to the height increase, as are several members of residents associations. Their only real argument seems to be the shadows on Jesse Ketchum, plus the usual NIMBY rhetoric like traffic congestion...

    Toronto | The One | 338.3m | 94s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

Sadly it's mostly the NIMBYs that bother to attend these events. More people like us on these forums should attend and speak out in favour of the developments to counter the NIMBYs.

    Toronto | The One | 338.3m | 94s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

The value may not have doubled but the construction costs probably have. 😆
  12. N

    Toronto | The One | 338.3m | 94s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

Mizrahi might just be trying to establish a name for himself so that future projects will be more profitable.

    Toronto | Union Centre | 298m | 54s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

Amazing how every iteration of this proposal keeps getting taller and taller! March 2014: 240m March 2019: 266m July 2020: 274m July 2021: 286m September 2021: 298m By the time it actually gets built, maybe it will be 350m. 😆

    Toronto | Concord Sky | 298.99m | 84s | Concord Adex | a—A

Hold on, that's an interesting idea. Maybe there are 85 storeys but they're just calling it a "95-storey tower" because they skipped 10 numbers. Maybe Concord hasn't actually changed anything.

    Toronto | The Well | 174.03m | 46s | RioCan | Hariri Pontarini

Wow, talk about the contrast between the Well and the garbage at City Place!
  16. N

    Toronto | 191 Bay | 301.74m | 64s | QuadReal | Hariri Pontarini

Too bad about the height. I thought @interchange42 had had a chat with the developers and convinced them to find a way to push the roof height over 300m? I guess it goes to show that outside of these skyscraper nerd communities the "supertall" designation really is completely meaningless.

    Toronto | Union Centre | 298m | 54s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

I couldn't tell if @Undead actually has inside information or was just speculating. CC3 seems like a more likely candidate to me because it's much farther along in the process.
  18. N

    Toronto | Union Centre | 298m | 54s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

Cool. If it's not The Hub, that pretty much means it's CC3. :)

I'm going to guess The Hub.
