    2022 43rd Ontario general election (June 2, 2022)

Some wishful thinking in this thread.

    Shabby Public Realm

How I wish there was a politician willing to campaign on this and get the citizens behind this so things can be fixed. It's rather embarrassing at this point.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Extension (Proposed)

Sheppard could work but they would need to shut it down to convert it to Ontario Line tech. I don’t know how politically feasible that would be. A GO midtown line could also work but I don’t see it working. A 407 line using Ontario line tech running from Burlington to Oshawa could work.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Netherlands has the same card for the whole country. We should try and get more transit systems to adopt it province wide.

I was born in a third world country and go there regularly and don’t need any lessons from anyone about first world problems. I still have right to complain about how ugly the majority of Toronto looks. I’ve been reading and posting in this forum since 2007 and have seen people complain about...

I agree, like absolute trash and no one seems bothered from politicians to residents. You can come back in 100 years and you will find it looking the same.

Are those places also littered with rotten wooden hydro poles, pothole filled streets, garbage everywhere, ugly public realm ? If so then they also have no shame.

    Toronto | The Well | 174.03m | 46s | RioCan | Hariri Pontarini

I have to drive through downtown Toronto to visit clients for work and the city is really shabby and looks unkempt. Apart from the overhead wires, rusted hydro poles everywhere, garbage all over the place, pothole filled roads. I think the citizenry don’t demand any better so politicians don’t...

This is Toronto, what else do you expect. We have no shame.

Toronto | Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design) | ?m | ?s

We saw the same thing with the Aga Khan stop which Metrolinx proposed to remove but the city fought to have it put back. The stop is right next to the Science Centre station. So instead of having what could have been a grade separated line from the airport to the science centre at least we have...

    Toronto | Ontario Line: Thorncliffe Park Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

North - Don Valley Crossing This underground section will emerge from the southern embankment of the Don Valley at Minton Place, west of the Leaside Bridge, on an elevated structure that will connect it to Thorncliffe Park...

No they will be building a new bridge. https://www.metrolinxengage.com/en/content/ontario-line-neighbourhood-updates-north-don-valley-crossing

    Toronto | Ontario Line: Gerrard Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

Well all indications so far seems they will be a part of this line and we haven't heard anything different. "Station platforms will be protected by screen doors that only open after the train has arrived – making it impossible to cross the tracks or drop things on them."...

    Toronto | Ontario Line: King-Bathurst Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

I think Infrastructure Ontario is dealing with that so maybe that's why it is not shown.

    Toronto | Ontario Line: Exhibition Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

I wonder why no renders for East Harbour station.

What about East Harbour station? No renders?

    Greater Golden Horseshoe Transportation Plan

LOL. I agree. Bringing up the Relief Line is tantamount to spamming now. Frankly I'm glad that stub of a line is relegated to the dustbin of history. We don't need any more stub lines. We have one on Sheppard.

    Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Also the cheap looking concrete being used. I dont know know why the insistence on using concrete and ashphalt platforms. This may be understandable for minor stations but at premier stations like Union Station, you have to do better. Compare Union Station to the platforms at Rotterdam Centraal...
