    Toronto | Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I'm still gutted that the grass tracks were dropped - given I think that would help with a lot of the pedestrian and vehicle intrusion issues!

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

    Draw your own conclusions.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

The other thing to remember - is the transformative effect of having a project reorientate the entire street. New trees, new sidewalks, narrower/less car lanes, hopefully green track! At some points Eglinton is 7 lanes across - very car centric! It's challenging to quantify that in a business...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Alex quite rightly dragging the crappy design of the Chester "second exit". The stone "bollards" are a key lowlight personally

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

Depends if they can get the developers of Sherway/Cloverdale Mall to stump up some cash. Combined with a very modest extension of the line to serve the (long proposed) Obico Western Subway Yard - I could see this happening, esp. if built as elevated. No need for super large bus terminal...

    Toronto | 307 Lake Shore East | 160.18m | 49s | Plaza Partners | BDP Quadrangle

Y'all think this is likely to happen, or a "please buy this site from us at the market value" proposal...?

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Extension (Proposed)

It does help that the Canadian Tire distribution centre and big box stores by Bessarion station are slowly being developed... But it also doesn't help that detached family housing fronts onto Sheppard along several sections - including adjacent to Bessarion station itself! If they are gonna...

    Montréal Transit Developments

For all the good of REM East - it was designed by CDPQ, who have a vested interest in making money off it. Hopefully taking a step back will lead to a better project overall 🤞 (although, given the point about politics above ... 🙃)

Toronto | Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design) | ?m | ?s

As with the stations, until the Civil, Stations, Tunnel contracts are signed and sealed - any rendering/image of the Don Crossing you see is a placeholder. Design teams for the south contract include major companies such as Arup, AECOM and IBI. It remains to be seen how good a 'client' Metrolinx is!

    GO Transit Electrification (Metrolinx, Proposed)

This is excellent, excellent news. The electrification of GO was something I was very worried that a pro-car Conservative provincial government would dump - so I guess I take my doubt back! Kudos to Metrolinx for pushing the (very rosy!) business case hard enough and kudos to local governments...

    GO Transit Electrification (Metrolinx, Proposed)

Hence the substantial work already underway to remove them! (Davenport Diamond etc)

High Tech Transit Oriented Community (Richmond Hill Centre, Metrolinx, up to 80s, BDP Quadrangle)

Question I have - is there actually the demand for this? Developers own large chunks of land by Vaughan Metro Centre subway - and you're not seeing a forest of towers immediately being built... Some, sure - but not 20+ at once or something.

    Toronto | Ontario Line: Corktown Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

Perfect example of the TOC process would be the central London Crossrail stations - stations built to support the weight of development above, and station systems (ventilation, fire safety etc) are separate from any future building on top. As with the TOC process, placeholder designs for the OSD...

    TTC: Easier Access Phase III

Also ancillary space is always in demand - cleaning, storage, station staff offices - as well as retail units. Could make the station feel less cramped, too
  15. turini2

    TTC/Metrolinx: Scarborough Subway Extension

Scrap and scrap, most likely. Land then passed to Create TO etc for better use, with the (rumoured) use of the guideway as a linear park. If the TTC offered a set to Halton County Railway (or others), I'd expect they'd decline the offer, given the complicated, fiddly and expensive linear motor...

    Northern Ontario Highways - Proposals

    What's the source of this?
  17. turini2

    TTC: Easier Access Phase III

Don't remember seeing this render of High Park before. (Apologies, the image is very low quality on the TTC site - not much I can do about that!)
  18. turini2

    GO Transit Electrification (Metrolinx, Proposed)

The Class 80x series bi-mode multiple unit trains in the UK can switch between overhead and their underfloor diesel engines while on the move, even at high speed. It's perfectly possible. Realistically, any GO bi-mode locomotive will do the switch at stations - easy while people are boarding the...

    Toronto | Scarborough Centre Station | ?m | ?s | TTC | AECOM

Can't quite locate where I saved my docs of the previous, much larger design (and it's gargantuan double deck bus terminal, if I remember rightly)

    Montréal Transit Developments

Pretty encouraged by the fact that SYSTRA is behind the overall design of the route, stations and everything else... (Maybe we need an Quebec Transit Developments thread!)
