    Montréal Transit Developments

Nuances yes, and TransLink chose to keep buses single fare which I think is smart.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Although the tweet acts like TransLink hasn't had integrated fares for several years.

    Ottawa Transit Developments

It will take a long time to rebuild trust in the reliability of taking transit, soo many problems that could've been avoided. Perhaps Metrolinx should take over management 😂

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

There's many mechanisms that have been discussed ad nauseam on here. Signal priority is merely a tool the traffic department refuses to use.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

I think signal priority is far more integral to speed than stop spacing. Think of how amazing Spadina would be if CARS were the second class citizens and not streetcars.

Toronto | Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design) | ?m | ?s

Would've been preferable if they had repeated the Yonge-Bloor and Bloor-Yonge pattern with intersecting lines.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Extension (Proposed)

I'm referring to Milton, which is definitely CP

The horror if those are actually the names

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

They can afford to build hwy 413? 😂

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

It definitely will, CP will drag their heels of course. There is very strong political consensus on multiple levels of government to improve service on a line that functions as close as Mississauga will ever get to a Metro/subway line.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Extension (Proposed)

Anything involving rail land always seems to prove contentious for them. Even something as simple as electrifying the Kitchener line past Brampton, (which in the long-term) freight will likely be electrified in urban areas.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Extension (Proposed)

I'd argue the cost-benefit ratio to make line 4 essentially part of line 2 is probably not worth the cost when a small transfer is available. That, and the fact line 4 and line 2 serve different functions (Sheppard has fewer stations but with more density, while Bloor is lower density more...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Extension (Proposed)

Scarborough can and should accommodate two hubs, not having one with huge amounts of density at STC would be silly. And one is needed because 2 subway lines will be dumping and collecting riders are McCowan.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Extension (Proposed)

The hating for on-street LRT is exhausting. I think in many ways it's the superior for of higher capacity transit with it's ability to blend relatively seamlessly with the urban fabric. The main reasons this form of LRT on Finch and Eglinton has caveats has more to do with the Toronto...

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Exactly. And Toronto has clearly influenced planning of the Ontario line, it's really a refinement rather than a complete scrapping of the RL.

    Montréal Transit Developments

I don't think you'll see the downtown portion happen.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Extension (Proposed)

I wouldn't say that is unusually full, I rarely find much room riding the Canada line after Broadway-City Hall when I went to Langara.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Of course, however it's good to see a mayor able to counter the Premiers autocratic tendencies (Unlike Tory against Ford). I think we'll end up with a much more compelling transit project even if there is moderate cost increases.
  19. asher__jo

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

I think it's been proposed by Multiple relief line plans from decades prior. It also seemed to be the most logical route, with people mentioning Dufferin as a compelling if unlikely alternative (myself included). Metrolinx considering this routing to Roncesvalles I think is high considering...

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Excellent points. This will likely result in another East-West rail line south of Bloor, perhaps along King transitioning to elevated along Lakeshore east of the Don to serve redevelopment of Portlands and other post-industrial lands.
