Yeah, I like me some Live D as much as the next girl, but ugh, I can't believe we're still shovelling resources into building stuff like this in 2022.

No amount of curved glass would help that one.

They've been putting Santa's Cabin (downsized from the castle, I guess Santa's an empty-nester) outside by Trinity Square in recent years. Gotta maximize that interior sales space, dontcha know.

It's basically just the MBTA logo, so maybe they were trying to make transit as clear as possible to a key demographic: people commuting in from Boston.

For those who don't recall, here's roughly the same angle, via Google Streetview, from May 2016:

I know Toronto's sidewalk widths are miserly, but this is ridiculous

Another proposal that's a tad problematic from a climate standpoint – the existing building isn't that old and is quite large, but it's still a tear-down apparently :/ I'm not exactly a fan of the design of the extant building – it's kind of schlocky (not without its charms, but schlocky) – but...

Oh, absolutely – I hadn't seen this thread earlier and was scrolling down from the top of this page, thinking "well, that's an obvious fiction, let's see what'll actually get proposed... oh."

    Toronto | 522 University | 232.92m | 62s | Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc | WZMH

Surely the current status quo – the fact that large swathes of the city core are untouchable because so much extant two-storey low-density housing is sacrosanct – is itself a cumbersome ideological constraint, one that drives proposals to tear down large, handsome concrete buildings which are...

This is astonishingly wasteful, both from an architectural standpoint and from an environmental one.

From the "there's no accounting for taste / never listen to the general public" department, I was having a drink on the Betty's patio the other week and the people at the table behind me were discussing this building, and none of them liked it! I felt like I was taking crazy pills. Anyway, this...
