  1. Patch

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I just wish they had incorporated these more smoothly with the recent turning lane they added at Havelock... it cuts a bit too much into the turning lane Also the "gap" between the ramp and reflective bollards isn't particularly the safest. Not sure why they don't move this closer to the ramp.

Agreed. That wood side looks particularly unfinished/temporary. Hopefully it's just a delay in materials? What they showed in the renderings was a bit more... elegant

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Upgrades at the intersection of Bloor/Havelock are finally being installed. Unfortunately the last time I took this route, the road quality on Havelock between Bloor/Dewson was so bad that it almost made the southbound lane unrideable... ☹️

I'm seeing that Markham St and the east-west driveway are being marketed as "pedestrian-oriented" streets. Anyone know if we are going to see actual restrictions on vehicular access? Or mostly just traffic calming?

533 College St (@ Euclid, Akelius, 4s, renovation, WZMH)

As much as I hate Akelius... this reno is really a 10/10. Love how the placement of the rooftop pergola matches up with the water tower. A couple more pictures I found here.

Is that the lobby behind the columns? Should have been a no-brainer to have retail or a cafe directly facing the parkette here...

Looks like they've removed the metal window framing that they had installed in that one spot. I wonder if they've been scrapped altogether. I personally think it looks cleaner/less busy without them!

Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

Did not expect my Christie Pits request to be fulfilled so quickly! 😄 Thank you for the thorough review/walk through - it was a great read and virtual walk through the park on this rainy Monday! Overall, I agree that there's really no argument in terms of how popular/successful the park is...

Loving those railings! And that they matched the shade of the railings to each building. 👍

Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

Throwing in a request/challenge for a Christie Pits review! :) For being one of the larger and more popular parks in the City, it feels like there was minimal thought/love put into its overall design. I believe there was also a small "revitalization" completed around ~2016? Couple issues I've...
