    Same. The rates are ridiculous

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I didn't time it, but it's noticeably slower than it used to be. Probably less than a half second. But it's frustrating. Many people tapping their naked Presto cards have about the same delay as when I have mine in my wallet.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Are they not doing testing before rolling out upgrades/changes? Think also of the computerized announcements where some streets (e.g.) are pronounced incorrectly. I work in healthcare, and most IS changes are tested thoroughly before roll-out.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

It's like if they drive away riders, they can reduce service. And save money. And drive away more riders! I don't actually believe this is what they are doing, just different areas not coordinating repairs. But it is a possible effect.

Toronto Breweries, Brew Pubs, Bottle Shops

I believe this increase is less than a cent a can. The increase was announced in 2017. I do think beer and liquor taxes are disproportionately high in Canada, but "Trudeau is an idiot" is a bit of a reach on this issue.

    Toronto | Crosstown Line 5 West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It's back to 15 min service most of the day. They repaired the issue a couple of weeks back that caused the service to be replaced by buses.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

The design with the ridiculously big grille that raises/extends the hood (which has permeated SUVs and other autos) is part of the problem. Manufacturers have created big vehicles with crap sightlines. Strict standards for noise and sightlines that are enforced would help.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Good idea... Next week! I do like the convenience of keeping my Presto in my wallet. Also I'm less likely to accidentally leave it in a pocket. Same. All the 56 Leaside and 11 Bayview buses seem to have been switched over to the new readers

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I keep my Presto in my wallet on the half opposite my credit/debit cards. I open my wallet to increase the distance between my Presto and cards. It used to be a quick read. Now I've started to walk away, then have to pause to have my card read. It's probably no more than a half second, but is...

    Hard disagree here.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I guess Rosedale siding wasn't appropriate for long term? It has easy access to Bayview and may be wide enough for 3-4 tracks (for a short distance). Anyway, the other Don Valley location was not good, imo

As a longtime member with the annual 45 plan, I won't be grabbing ebikes often with this fare structure. My ~25 min ride to work would be an additional $2.50. I can hoof it on the regular bikes for no charge in about 30 min. Or TTC for $3.20 (or whatever it's changing to). Maybe I'll change my...

    Roads: Roundabouts

The worst roundabout in Toronto that I know of? Broadway and Banff Avenues. Yes, there's a 4-way stop there. (From Google Maps)

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

If the posted limit was also the enforced limit, I would support something like 120 rural, 110 urban on divided highways. If it's like now where enforcement doesn't start until 20 over the limit, then no. More energy in collisions leading to worse outcomes. Also much more wasteful. Actually...

Toronto Breweries, Brew Pubs, Bottle Shops

I asked on social, and People's Pint beer is only available at LCBO and bottle shops now. I'll go to my local shop and grab some later

Back on this horse for a minute. Obviously this author (Davide Mastracci) comes with a certain bias, but present some research and arguments. From this piece, "I am arguing that this media coverage can make people more scared to take the TTC than they would otherwise be. I am arguing that this...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

Just slightly higher in this thread is an example where there is a gap in the ad. That's a possibility. Also, just because I don't like the wrapped busses, I'm not going to avoid them. Getting home or to work faster is more important to me than my annoyance at the ads.

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

*I* find it irritating and annoying to look through an ad, like I find it annoying to look through salty and grimy windows. I doubt I am the only one annoyed by them. Please accept that when someone tells you that they are annoyed by something, 1) there will be others similarly annoyed; 2 there...

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

It's not great for passengers riding the streetcar, and makes it very difficult to see outside.

Property taxes are lower in the City of Toronto than surrounding municipalities, and indeed any other major city in Ontario https://www.zoocasa.com/blog/ontario-property-tax-rates-2022/
