Well, my in-jest installation prediction was incorrect, which is exciting! Perhaps they’ll remove the wrap on New Years 😉. Unless, of course, that is the real colour, in which case I’m moving to Alberta. I mean, we saw photos of the actual materials in previews, there was a front page story...

I’ll be sad to see the Richmond street Scotia Cineplex go in a year or three, I have a ton of great memories of that theatre, but from this angle, you can really see that corner crying out to be redeveloped. It looks so squat and sad.

First Champagne coloured cladding will be installed Dec 31st, you heard it here first.

Agreed 1000%. It looks like a sign you’d see for a gift store at the airport.

The last few pages of this thread have been absolutely legendary. Huge thanks to all contributors! Incredible shots.

A bit early to pass any sort of final judgement on the cladding, but it’s looking like 5.5 or 6/10 to me. Better than Nobu and Peter and Adelaide, but those are low, low bars to clear. Never a fan of green glass, but there is certain crispness that might come to life here. Overall, not too excited.

Podium does look nice, making this the most frustrating project of all time. I love the design of the balconies in those upward facing shots, like honestly some of the best designed in the city, and there are a lot of balconies. But the cladding is such a disaster, and the opacity of the balcony...

POPS was still open at 6:45pm when I went on Tuesday… and it was gorgeous. Id been meaning to go, and it did not disappoint. Still lots of fall colours up there.

Yes! Super excited to see the top take shape. Spoiler alert: it’s gonna look cool.

Honestly, I’d probably take Nobu over this. So outrageously ugly, particularly the south-facing cladding, above the first setback. It doesn’t get much worse than this.

Ah. Thank goodness. If they sort that out, then this still has the potential to look… ok.

I’m a bit mad, but mostly, I’m just confused. What in the name of god is going on here?

Never mind, on second look, the horizontal mullions are clearly shown as exterior features.

Based on that render, one could argue they were never part of the exterior, as if you look close, it’s a little vague, but agreed, this would be a disagreeable development.

Looking at greg’s photo above, counting 88 queen east as three separate towers currently going up, I count cranes for seven new towers going up all within like 200 metres of each other.

You think sky tower will be finished in a year?

Does anybody know -perhaps it’s been discussed- why this building has a concrete core and T3 Sterling seemingly does not? There is a two storey height difference, but that’s not so much (Sterling = 8 storeys)

While fully aware of some of the needless negativity on some of these threads, these precast panels gets a big yikes from me. Peter and Adelaide quality. Brutal.

Thanks Northern Light! Sort of disappointing though, although anything is an improvement, and my expectations may have been fantasy-land. I’d always hoped they’d actually take out a lane, ideally on the east side, and keep Gladstone one-way southbound like it is north of Peel Ave. Honestly...

Hi all. I hope, and can only assume that these photos are relevant to this thread. Was at Exhibition today, and there is significant demolition of the buildings immediately north of the tracks underway. Perhaps it’s been going on for some time. Lots of workers onsite.
