    Edmonton Oilers

Great game last night, I missed most of the fireworks at work but came home to watch them play solid defensive hockey and grind out a win. The Canes got a lot of shots but most weren't super high quality and 5-on-5 they had nothing going whatsoever. Nurse has really turned a corner as of late...

    Alberta Politics

I fear Alberta will be the Fossil of Day for a long time until we get rid of the UCP, they're constantly being counterproductive and putting even more of our eggs in the dying oil and gas basket. It's stunning how powerful the hold your nose and vote blue sentiment in Alberta is considering how...

Urban National Park Option for the River Valley

They really, truly despise Edmonton don't they. The pettiness is beyond comprehension.

    Edmonton | The Quarters Hotel and Residences | 280.1m | 80s | Alldritt Land | KENNEDY

This tower was proposed when the city had a lot of momentum. There was a lot of optimism around the city at this time, the new arena was just finished, Stantec and JW were rising and beginning to dominate the skyline and it seemed like the city was well on its way to becoming a truly big city...

    Regional Planning & Growth

Yes I've always wondered the rationale of building a suburb directly downwind from the refineries. I have no source on this but it seems like an inordinate amount of youth in Sherwood Park, myself included have asthma and other lung related problems. It would be interesting to compare asthma...

    ICE Tower

It would be funny if they kept the weird boxes falling out the third floor of the building art. Also the big "We Sell Boxes" sign

It should cross the river over the High Level and connect with the future transit Mega-Hub at Strathcona Junction as well

Yeah they should just build that part honestly. Revive this project without the tower and it's just fine!

    Regional Planning & Growth

As someone who lives there you're mostly correct. There are a ton of people who look down on Edmonton. It's not everyone though. We're in a bubble here in the Park and a lot of good, well meaning people get negative ideas about Edmonton from this sheltered perspective.

    Regional Planning & Growth

Maybe they wouldn't have budget issues if they stopped funneling all the tax dollars from the park into building world class infrastructure in Ardrossan for under 1000 people.

    Edmonton's National Standing

Very true, Cali's in a decent position water wise despite the shortages. The problem is that all the water's in the north and all the people are in the south so large aqueducts and other water moving projects will be necessary to keep LA hydrated. AZ and NV on the other hand... are living on...

    Edmonton's National Standing

They're running out of water. Expect Vegas, Phoenix (basically all of Nevada and Arizona as well) and to a lesser extent LA to see declining population as they rapidly deplete the Colorado Basin, exacerbated even further by an ever drier climate. The southeast is going to be devastated by ever...

    Edmonton's National Standing

Probably 60-70% of those fleeing the Sun Belt will end up in northern Midwestern States (Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, etc). Maybe around 20-30% will head to the West Coast states (Northern and Coastal California, Washington, Oregon). The rest will probably look north to Canada and I'm...

    Edmonton | Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

To my understanding the stretch of the line that is in Blatchford is supposed to be come a denser, mid-rise, mixed-use area. It looks stupid right now because the places people are moving in are not right beside transit but as the eastern sections start to develop it will start to come into its...

    Edmonton | Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

The Metro Line is being extended directly into Blatchford as we speak. There will be a station called Blatchford directly inside the district. Yes it will be well connected to transit.

    Edmonton's National Standing

There is an ideal average temperature/climate for human civilization to flourish. Currently that niche is quite far south of us, however, it is expected that in the not too distant future, Toronto and southern Ontario will fall directly in that niche. Edmonton will be just slightly colder than...

    Edmonton Oilers

Elvis is a great target, I would also add Vejmelka into the mix, it seems like Ingram has nabbed AZ's starting job. When it comes to a cheap 1 year forward addition there are few names that are currently free agents: Nolan Patrick is a UFA currently, he was a highly touted prospect when he...

    Edmonton | Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Completely different scenario. Those are all happening in auto-oriented areas which naturally are able to build themselves out much faster due to market factors as well as costs associated with building on a site that was previously dedicated to another use in the inner-city. Apples and Oranges.
