    Downtown

Oilers making the playoffs every year as long as possible is honestly the biggest boost I can see us realistically securing. Getting 20-30k people downtown 4 times every 2 weeks in that awkward transition season from winter to summer is so helpful. Likely helps a lot of restaurants do ok...

    Downtown

Basically just a lot of comments about “poor people”, certain “types” of people (racism), and whining about how transit loses money and users should pay more. Whining about bike lanes. Making excuses that “why patrol downtown when all the liberal lovers down there want us defunded”. Stuff like...

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Residential towers and major change ups to use is the only solution I can imagine working here. The mall will never recover as a retail centre to anywhere close to its peak, let alone surpass that.

Yeah, open sky, plus the lot north of it, mercury 2, autograph tower 3 (which I’m guessing will be similar to the Macleran), and those empty lots just south of 103ave on 123st. Those all get built the next 3-4 years and it’ll feel very urban here.

    LRT Safety

I just can’t believe that a multi billion dollar system with hundreds of thousands of weekly users isn’t being sorted with more urgency. Imagine if this was a road, how quickly we’d seek to fix it if it consistently caused injuries and had major shutdowns every few days.

Keep in mind that the Hat on 122 has, what, 6 more CRUs coming? That’s a lot. But also 1500+ new residents joining the neighborhood this year, so that’ll help a bit both locally and in terms of attracting friends and others to the area. I find our friends outside the henday come to our place...

    ICE Tower

Would these potentially have pedway connections? Seems like they could be a decent addition to the network and the value add of walking to Loblaws or elsewhere in Ice District is pretty cool for residents. I loved that when staying at the JW last January.

Very interested to see what they release.

Yeah, I would be as negative as some. But I understand the frustrations. I think starting with the higher density and mixed use areas would have made more sense. Sort of like university district in Calgary did. Get people visiting, shopping, host some events. Then sell them homes. Not having...

I don’t think so. Coffee bureau fronts 102ave and definitely hasn’t started to be fitted out yet. Whereas the lobby being worked on makes a lot of sense as they start leasing this month. Also looks like an elevator in the background. And this would be a weird coffee shop seating layout...

    Isn’t this the lobby?

I mean, it’s about as far as possible from the residential areas because it’s right on the border. There’s tens of thousands of homes in Edmonton with a closer walk to transit than what’s been built in blatchford.

Edmonton and the play for post-secondary educational relevance

I’m very interested to see if they go with the already designed, but smaller capacity building. Or if they commit to the larger capacity one they discuss in the plans. Sounds like their growth curve is too aggressive to settle for the original plans and they need to go back to the drawing board...

Sister in laws dad is one of the top dogs at EPS. And his wife used to work high up in ETS. Talking with them both was mind blowing. Absolutely not the right attitudes and perspectives to fix our problems and honestly explained a lot. Oh, and they live in St. Albert 🙃

Saw no cops tonight during 4hrs at winterval. You’d think they’d have a presence… library had dozens of people inside and out that were on drugs and not doing well, pretty discouraging. Winterval was a big success though imo and for a new event launch, should be very proud. Wild to see the...

Hasn’t Chris built some decent businesses? When we talk about council not being too in touch with the business community, wouldn’t he be the sort of guy we would want involved? Or how would people weigh his views?

    Edmonton's National Standing

Go look at reports. Whether its economic ones, housing, industry research, 5 is often the number displayed. Oh the urbanity recently did a video where they looked at the top 5 and snubbed Edmonton. So whether you think 6 is more logical given the cutoffs (I agree with you), the reality is that...

    Edmonton | Grandin Tower 2 | 113.99m | 36s | Westrich Pacific | Chris Dikeakos

Very excited for this one is all I know. Hendrix, CX, The View, and now this guy are really changing this skyline and the density of the area. One of the most liveable parts of the core with the Government LRT, Parks, Save Ons and Jasper/109 cluster of stores.

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I think it’s mostly the pedways, no? People are used to using Churchill as the connector to all the pedways (even if 102at technically can get you into the mall and the same pedways).
