    Edmonton | Stantec Tower | 250.84m | 66s | ICE District Prop.

There’s also Loblaws. They have their to-go counter right next to the pedway to Stantec. Very convenient.

    LRT Expansion Planning

I agree Beaumont is far enough out for regional rail, but the problem is there was never a rail line built through Beaumont, so establishing a regional rail line would be costly. The closest line is probably CPKC’s mainline through Nisku, but that’s already quite a bit of a hike from Beaumont...

    LRT Expansion Planning

There were long-term LRT maps in the past that showed the Valley Line continuing east along 28 Ave to 50 Street, and then south down 50 to Ellerslie Road. I have never seen any city plans to continue it south from there, but I think an eventual extension to Beaumont makes sense.

    Edmonton | Bonnie Doon Mall Redevelopment | ?m | ?s

I specifically went to the Safeway at Bonnie Doon yesterday just to have an excuse to take the train even though I live 4 blocks from the Unity Square one 😂

If anyone hasn't had a chance to ride the Valley Line yet, you may be interested in my video documenting the entire line from Mill Woods to 102 Street.

Is it though? What about Wetaskiwin or Olds? The right approach is inter-city rail with HSR coming once demand is there.

    Miscellaneous

I actually don't mind density there. There's already a lot of density in that area, so there is a critical mass for high frequency bus service. Also, I'm hoping that one day, if Edmonton ever gets a full-scale commuter/regional rail network, there could be a train station just south of this...

Also Greisbach is like 95% single family homes. Blatchford will have zero.

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I could be wrong, but I think the railways have an obligation to allow crossings if the municipality so chooses (at the municipality’s expense). However if the crossing would effect their operations, they would definitely appeal it with Transport Canada. I think in this case, I would rather a...

    VIA Rail

Does anybody know if this cycling plan is still current? I was hoping to ride a Venture trainset in October between Ottawa and Montreal, but planning it is proving difficult.

    Landsdowne Centre - 5120 - 122 Street - Redevelopment - proposed

Why oh why is there such a massive parking lot in front?! This development could do wonders for the area, but I think it misses the mark with that sea of parking. Such a shame stuff like this is still proposed in 2023.

I think they’re referring to the steel piles around the edge of the site holding back the soil outside the excavation area. As far as I know, they stay in the ground forever? I’ve never seen them being removed.

Here are some photos of Stony Plain Rd from about a week ago. It looks like most of the drainage infrastructure is in place so tracks and road surfacing may not be far away.

    Downtown

I was there last night, and it was absolutely fantastic. It gave me a renewed sense of pride in downtown Edmonton, something I haven’t felt for a while now. Let’s hope we can keep the ball rolling and host more and more events/festivals downtown.

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

They could always do something like this: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1C9wfOjxT6HXybmkqxjYVfX_qESfTLhQ&usp=sharing If they're spending billions of dollars on a high speed line, building a couple of tunnels and a viaduct would not break the bank.

    Edmonton | 105 Avenue (Columbia Avenue) Streetscape | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

It’s currently being used as a laydown site for the 105 Ave streetscape project. Once that’s complete, hopefully they start developing it.

    Edmonton | The Mercury Block | 21.7m | 6s

Nah, I like that the white section has white frames, white brick, and white railings, whereas the black part of the building is all black. To me, it looks classy. Black window frames are a little too common these days.
