  1. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Is anyone aware of any top down views of the former and now current seating layout? As a non-avid baseball fan but a big big skydome fan, I want to be able to compare/overlay both to see the difference between the two because it's hard to discern tbh.
  2. Hamiltonian

    Hamilton Toronto | Centurion | ?m | 9s | Effort Group | DPAI

Dpai really dropped the ball on this one, especially given their relatively good reputation in the city for quality architecture. I wonder what happened behind the scenes.
  3. Hamiltonian

Toronto Toronto | St Lawrence Market North | 25.3m | 5s | City of Toronto | Rogers Stirk Harbour

Are these markets connected under Front St via the basement stall area?
  4. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | 543 Richmond Street West | 47.24m | 15s | Pemberton | BDP Quadrangle

The yellow/beige brick seems so dated to me now. It's like a throwback to the beginning of condo-boom era!
  5. Hamiltonian

Toronto Toronto | New Park at 229 Richmond West | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | Gow Hastings

As a landscape architect, I'm not sure how they expect the tiny patches of grass to hold up any better than muddy patches of dirt.
  6. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | 88 Queen | 167.35m | 52s | St Thomas Dev | Hariri Pontarini

There's a lot more depth to the minty facade than I expected as shown in the photos above. Definitely more palatable.
  7. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | Artists' Alley | 121.91m | 39s | Lanterra | Hariri Pontarini

Lots to like about this project save for the really bleak streetwall along St. Patrick street. Anyone else agree?
  8. Hamiltonian

    Hamilton Toronto | King William Urban Rentals | 97.56m | 30s | LIUNA | Graziani + Corazza

Nations definitely is a "real grocer"... A well-rounded grocery store perfectly suited to get your staples. I often drive there to do grocery shopping.
  9. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | One Delisle | 155m | 44s | Slate | Studio Gang

I totally agree. I think the loss of the crown becoming gradually smaller in diameter and it’s subtleness makes a bigger-than-expected impact.
  10. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | Waterworks Building Redevelopment | 47.55m | 13s | MOD Developments | Diamond Schmitt

This is sooo minor and maybe not worth mentioning by why is one side of the signage flipped with the water spout facing the building 😩
  11. Hamiltonian

Scotiabank Arena (Air Canada Centre) Renovations

CIBC and Renault too… we love to copy 😩
  12. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | 45 The Esplanade | 128.85m | 39s | Republic | Arcadis

I like the curved parapet. Everything else is a no for me.
  13. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | Waterworks Building Redevelopment | 47.55m | 13s | MOD Developments | Diamond Schmitt

Union station great hall revitalization punching the air rn.

Lesser recognized buildings in Toronto that you enjoy

I love these dutch gable semi-detached homes on Sullivan Street near the AGO. I always make an effort to walk by them when I'm walking through the area.
  15. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | Panda Condominiums | 107.59m | 30s | Lifetime | Turner Fleischer

I was surprised it wasn’t included in the UT best building post.
  16. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | Union Park | 303.26m | 58s | Oxford Properties | Pelli Clarke Pelli

Also we might need to update the name of the architecture firm in the title. They're known as Pelli Clarke & Partners now.
  17. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | 83 Bloor West | 269.05m | 82s | Parallax | Arcadis

Unforunate that they couldn't replicate or re-imagine the existing retail spaces as it's replacing one of the final stretches of fine-grain retail along the mile. (Google Maps).
  18. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | 45 The Esplanade | 128.85m | 39s | Republic | Arcadis

Y’all are misunderstanding. Go off sis is not in any way negative. It’s Gen Z vocabulary.
  19. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | U of T: University of Toronto Schools | 20.42m | 3s | Diamond Schmitt

I don’t know... I think there’s some sort of muted simplicity to be found here. It’s monolithic in volume but serene or calming in its materiality and colour. It gives precedence to the architecture of the original building while straying outside the conventional Toronto approach to heritage...
  20. Hamiltonian

    Toronto Toronto | CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

I, myself, have always enjoyed the Fairmont Royal York logo adorning the top of their hotel!
