    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

While true, approval/disapproval rating don't necessarily translate to votes as we seen with Andrea Horwath having highest approval ratings, lowest disapproval ratings, but the party overall is still in third place.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's because that's where the cost savings of the LRT is coming from, no tunnels where needed and simple bus style shelters instead of multi-level stations.

According to the TTC they're making the change because people seem to have a problem discerning Downsview Park Station from Downsview Station. However, to deal with the problem of the change the name of Downsview Station they're answer is basically people will get use to it. So wouldn't it make...

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

From what I read around the "formerly Downsview" subtitle will be part of the station name and You Are Here signage for the foreseeable future. Only the voice over announcements will say "Sheppard West". What I find confusing is that they're spending $800,000 to avoid a so called confusion that...

That would make sense, but Eglinton West Station at Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue West will become Cedarvale. By that logic, wouldn't it make more sense to name it after Chesswood Station since its beside Chesswood Neighborhood? The name isn't really a bother, what I find annoying is that...

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

It may be on the other side of the street, but its still as far from the main park grounds. That said, it's not really the name, but the logic behind the name change that I find baffling. They're spending $800,000 to avoid "confusion" of people not able to know the difference between Downsview...

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Wouldn't it make more sense to name the unopened station Sheppard West since its on Sheppard West? But somehow renaming an existing know station as Downsview Station to "Sheppard West formally Downsview" station so an new never used before station can call itself "Downsview Park" is more...

    Hamilton Toronto | Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

They have the advantage of getting less snow than Ontario does. So they have more of an advantaged than Hamilton would of.

It's "ICTS" designation leads me to believe that this was another UTDC project to showcase the same technology used for the current Scarborough Rapid Transit. So they dodged a bullet in this case.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

It comes from a TTC Briefing(Toronto Star) note that anger transit advocates as "misleading", but as of late the City Manager has said that the current costs of the LRT options are "unknown"(Toronto Star).

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

It depends on what's being factored into the cost of the LRT construction. The TTC "savings" comes from using existing roadway to run the LRT, using bus shelters instead of full fledged stations where possible, etc. In Surrey case, the Skytrain would be more preferable, since building a LRT...

    New Transit Funding Sources

The only problem with this model is that it doesn't solve the funding problem. Toronto Hydro has various revenue generating tools at it disposal to fund its operations and expansion plans, while the province puts regulations how the city can raise revenue from its transit infrastructure.

Except the idea behind the Scarborough LRT option was to avoid making Kenndy Station a transfer hub for Scarborough residence. Hence why the Scarborough LRT connected directly to the Crosstown LRT.

You mean making Kennedy a hub of more than the two LRT lines?

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

I think it will come down to vote splitting. In Ontario we have two left leaning parties, and one right leaning party. The Ontario PC's know that the NDP have a voter ceiling, they just need enough angry Liberal voters to jump aboard the NDP wagon and its 2011 all over again.

    2014 Ontario Provincial Election

Looks like PC Candidate won. Ontario PC (Raymond Cho): 39% of the vote Liberal (Piragal Thiru): 30% of the vote NDP (Neethan Shan): 27% of the vote Source: CP24 Split vote, Harper approved, and the Ontario PC's best friend.

    Ontario Flag needs replacing

Can't be ours if no one had a say? Even the Maple Leaf went through various committees, this was put together overnight without a thought in its design. Suggest to keep the union jack if you want, but it needs a update, and the public should have a say. The Union Jack represents the union of...

    Ontario Flag needs replacing

It was. The fact that Ontario never had a official flag before, and it only uses part of the official Coat of Arms for Ontario, shows how fast they could throw something together to spite the removal of the Union Jack. Nova Scotia flag is a inverted version of the St Andrew's Cross, but its...

    Amalgamation

They seem to be advocating that Toronto stay as is. More likely other cities and towns around the GTA will lose their city/town status and become boroughs in a super-Metro like region.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

It gets complicated. Oxford owns the north building, the land may be still owned by the feds, province or city to avoid property taxes, the south building is still owned by the province and the city, since the feds never had ownership of the south building, and the north building is managed by...
