    Toronto Centre Federal By-election (cancelled)

Apparently Dion wanted to bring down the government over the Speech From the Throne, but his party was mostly against it. I have a feeling that he personally would like to go to an election soon. It is the party that is holding back. CPC polling numbers are still very low (most rencent I saw...

    streetcar cobblestones

I think the best we will get is cobble-stone stamped concrete like we see along Spadina....at least some parts of Spadina. For contrast, I would love to see the Queens Quay tracks on a pinkish/red tinged concrete, with the grey cobblestones making up the pedestrian and bike path beside it.

Head of Slips (Waterfront Toronto, West 8/DTAH)

I pass the site almost daily. It is boarded up so you cant see much... but... there are several tall metal "poles" swaying in the water. There is a pile driver on site. Likely, they are still just drilling support beam holes in the ground under the slip. I dont expect to see much activity in...

Crazy subway idea to serve Harbourfront

I cant see that happening. Why would Canada's biggest Transit Hub not have a subway stop? Seems silly to me. There is merit to extending the subway further south, but there still needs to be a Union Station stop.

Metrolinx : $400M for TTC, GO and other transit

It's an announcement that the first bit of money from the announcement will flow, and where it will flow. Nothing wrong with that.

1 Bloor East, DEAD AND BURIED (Bazis, -2s, Varacalli)

I saw that last night and meant to post something about it.... but forgot by the time I got home. Looks like they want to flatten what's there right away. It is going to look funny having an empty plot (and then eventually a hole in the ground) at Yonge and Bloor. I wonder what the hoarding...

Lets hope, but with the cost of recladding this, I doubt it. Hey 3D - where did you find out that FCP will be fixed up in 2008?

    Transformation AGO (5s, Gehry) COMPLETE

Wow. That question/statement hasnt been posted here before. I am even guilty of it myself. Read the previous pages - those curly bits are to be added later on the ends of the existing glass canopy.

Residences of College Park 2 Condos (Canderel Stoneridge) - Real Estate -

I used to have a south facing office on the 14th floor of 777 Bay (formerly the Hunter Mclean building). It had a lake view if you looked to the left. Directly in front was the Delta hotel, but there was still a lake view from floor 14.

Ahh, but watch out for the material on those sloping curves of the LTower. What are ski-jumps made out of these days?

    Toronto: Most Significant Possible Improvements

Wasnt Toronto given the ability to operate it's own lottery with the new City of Toronto Act?

One step closer to forcing the city to dump the Entertainment District by-law. Like it or not, this area is going to be residential.

What makes you so sure that the L Tower wont have ROM-style "issues" as well?

The Square needs a McDonalds. As much as I hate the place and refuse to eat there, it just SCREAMS the kind of commercialism that Dundas Square wants to exhibit to the world.

Forget the Globe and Mail. Towers should be built on the south side of Front Street between Spadina and Bathurst. Right now there is just a train parking lot for GO. Cant they find another location to store those trains? Without touching the in-use tracks, there is more than enough room for...

Money well spent I am sure...

There is already a Milestones on John Street in the RioCan building that houses the Scotiabank theatre and the Chapters. It's rather nice.

Dont forget the proposals for the Diesel Theatre, Gretsky's, further development of the parking lots surrounding Element, etc etc. Likely the parking lots surrounding the Westinghouse building (former location of the Indian Motorcycle club) will soon be developed as well.

    Ontario's trillium gets a make-over

Funny. The main page shows the new logo, yet many of the links still show the old. I guess it will take time to roll out completely.
