    Toronto: Most Significant Possible Improvements

back to the rail lands and the city being able to force Concord into decking over them.... not a possibility. Concord is already having one heck of a time trying to construct a simple pedestrian birdge over the rail lands. The issue is that CN wont allow any structures over the land that...

    Maple Leaf Gardens renovations delayed

... Just dont turn Maple Leaf Gardens into Montreal's Pepsi Forum - basically a Toronto Life Square-style shopping arcade with movie theatre anchor.

    Transformation AGO (5s, Gehry) COMPLETE

My post was mostly in jest. I do have issues with the visor, that is true. Perhaps it's completion will change my mind. I wouldnt seriously think that my posted idea would ever come to fruition, nor would I advocate the destruction of those Victorian houses.

    Infinity: Phases 1 & 2 (Conservatory Group, 35 + 16 + 12s, E I Richmond) COMPLETE

This section of the city between Spadina and Lower Simcoe is set to fail as a connection between the city and waterfront because there are no north/south roads. The Skydome and CN Tower alone make it impossible for a N/S link. The Convention Centre just continues that division right over to...

    Toronto Toronto | Luna at Concord CityPlace | 125.88m | 38s | Concord Adex | Core Architects

Well, with the poor picture quality, they do look rather monotonous. But when one is standing right there and sees the different cladding, shapes etc, the area is not monotonous.

    Transformation AGO (5s, Gehry) COMPLETE

Better yet.... rip down the Victorian Houses (the horror!!!!), get rid of Gerhy's windsheld visor (yeah, I said it), and deck over Dundas to a new northern extension. It would create a much larger gallery, and would provide a unique opportunity - cars/streetcars could "travel through" the...

    Simcoe St. Underpass & Extension

actually, this should ease traffic on Spadina, as cars from the core will not have to go to Spadina first to get onto the Gardiner. They can go down Lower Simcoe to Lakeshore and up onto the Gardiner. Hopefuly this will ease the MASS of cars that squeeze through CityPlace's small side...

    Toronto Toronto | Massey Tower Condos | 206.95m | 60s | MOD Developments | Hariri Pontarini

I used to think that they should be connected by a glass atrium or tower beind/between the buildings, however I have changed my mind. I kind of like them being 2 seperate buildings, free from modern additions.

Fair Tax. Scrapping the Income Tax?

Slightly off topic.... If we could only get listed prices to INCLUDE the sales tax, I would be a happy boy. I know this idea has been looked into before. I just dont see why we havent implemented it. I like paying $30 for something that is advertised at $30.

    Toronto: Most Significant Possible Improvements

GO is provincial territory (though the city does pay for some of it). As far as I know, they are electrifying it (at least the Lakeshore line). Is electrifying a correct word? Beautifying the under belly of the Gardiner would cost money, but doesnt have to. I think the city dropped the...

Head of Slips (Waterfront Toronto, West 8/DTAH)

Agreed. The 3 levels of government who signed onto the Waterfront revitalization should have made exceptions for the EA process on many items including this one. That would have been a BIG, non-financial contribution to the Redevelopment scheme. I am really interested to see how the John...

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

That's very London South bank. Looks like the buildings surrounding the new City Hall

    Infinity: Phases 1 & 2 (Conservatory Group, 35 + 16 + 12s, E I Richmond) COMPLETE

I think they did it to give people on forums like this amunition for complaints. After all, we dont complain on this forum enough. Consider their design a public service. What would we do without such horrible buildings to complain about??

    Toronto Toronto | Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto | 207.86m | 53s | Graywood | Kohn Pedersen Fox

You mean like every residential building in every city? CityPlace is no different than anywhere else when it comes to curtains in each unit being different from the next.

    Hume: Bay Store Construction Wrapping

Any major building in Europe is covered in this kind of tarp during cleaning, renovation/restoration etc. I never thought it was anything we would see here. Good for HBC.

    Toronto Toronto | Festival Tower and tiff Lightbox | 156.96m | 42s | Daniels | KPMB

we could also ask that all those parking lots behind Lightbox be developed as well. Just sayin'.

hoarding is up surrounding the Spadina Slip, with a pile driver on site.

10th Anniversary of the Toronto Megacity

You can thank Mike Harris for that one... and it had nothing to do with Amalgamation.

Head of Slips (Waterfront Toronto, West 8/DTAH)

I'm OK with the parking lot at Harbourfront Centre staying as is right now while WATERFRONToronto focuses on other projects which are aimed at connecting the wide expanse of waterfront from Bathurst to Yonge. Yonge to the Don River is another matter.....

Save, don't sulk, defiant Flaherty tells cities

It's funny to see the evolution of the Conservative Party in Canada. 1. You start out with a party that panders up to Quebec to ensure enough votes for a majority. 2. Western party members get disgruntled over the Quebec focus and all the supposed hand-outs given to Quebec, so some branch...
