10th Anniversary of the Toronto Megacity

Likely there will be no celebrations, but expect newspaper article after newspaper article complaining about where we went wrong since then.

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

A "Golden Horseshoe" PanAm Games seems silly. It will inveitably be centred on ONE city, with Toronto being the only real candidate. Likely it is being called a Golden Horseshoe proposal until Toronto actually says it is on board.

    Maple Leaf Gardens renovations delayed

MLG as the National Portrait Gallery is a great idea. If Weston cant afford to convert the space as a grocery store, then possibly he can sell the building to the Feds for $XX.00 less than market value, with the difference being considered a tax-deductable donation to the Gallery. This will...

Rainwater proposed to flush Ex toilets

If the technology has been used all over the world already, why is it a dumbass scheme? Sounds like a proven way of promoting environmental stewardship to me. If it were an unproven risk, then I can see it being a dumbass scheme, but since it has worked "all over the world", then it seems like...

    Hume: Bay Store Construction Wrapping

Not too long ago, the new private owner of the Bay was looking at selling off the Toronto Headquarters and only renting space back for the Bay store. All employees would either be shipped off to an enlarged Brampton office, or to a new one along the 401 somewhere (cant remember the exact...

    Vancouver 2010 Mascots Unveiled

The Beijing mascots (5 of them) are similar to the black and white seabear for Vancouver.

    Complicated nightmare work situation.....

Never give women your opinion. It always ends up badly.

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

I am SO glad that the star-bursts are not present in the middle of the square this year. Those were UGLY. I kind of like the tree (pretty much only at night though), but agree that it is kind of small for the square. I would like to see a MUCH larger version in the centre of the square...

S&P for me. I think it best reflects what's going on at the other end of Queens Park Circle. Only the S&P proposal really takes the entire block into consideration, and integrates the ROM site into the Faculty's design.

I find that there are WAY TOO MANY of those light posts. I think it kind of junks up the street.

Toronto CityPlace: Montage + Neo (Concord Adex, 47 + 16s, KPMB)

Interesting. They show Signature tower in a different configuration than it previously was. Before, the tower was to be right on the Spadina/Bremner corner. This masterplan shows it set back from Bremner. It also shows the tower to be a much different shape. Could be that this is just a...

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

I would like to see a super tall, super slim building on that site - 277 Victoria. I say at least as tall as, if not taller than the Pantages down the street. It would, as with the TLS, need to be covered in glittery ads and video screens.

    Vancouver 2010 Mascots Unveiled

I was hoping that whatever mascots they chose, that they would combine them in a totum pole. In a way, I guess they have. There is a book of the mascots, where on the cover they are stacked one on top of the other in a sort of totum pole configuration.

Is the glass on the Lanai's of 1BE really going to be different colours, creating that pixilated effect? Or is this their attempt to show that there may be the same effect with some glass panels open and some closed? I sure hope that the end result looks like the model. The pixilated effect...

Toronto seems to have a light obsession lately.

Many of those competitions are almost ready to start construction. Each winning competition is going to get built. They arent doing this to see what could be, but what will be. Once the winning design is chosen, there is a competition for construction companies to bid on who can build the...

    Transformation AGO (5s, Gehry) COMPLETE

I know the spiral staircase is very popular on this forum, but I just dont like it. I would rather have seen something a little more centred, and stretching across the entire expanse of glass from left to right.

Verve Condos (Tridel) - Real Estate -

Actually, those round towers are quite popular. I hear that they are rather nice inside. I have no problem with those towers. What I dont like is the slab behind The Star of Downtown (with the orange/pink-ish cladding). What people fail to remember (especially on this forum) is that...
