GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

There is a layover facility in Barrie located immediately east of the Allandale Waterfront GO Station (along Lakeshore Drive).

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I know from past discussions with coworkers that there are a number of professionals in the transit field that frequent this forum (either as members or as lurkers).

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Kathleen Wynnes former campaign manager and deputy chief of staff, I believe.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

I don't think anyone can deny that both Chow and Tory would have strong people (from across the political spectrum) working for them. If Rob Ford gets re-elected, Toronto will be stuck with Doug Ford for another 4 years.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Him and over 380,000 other Torontonians supported Ford. I think calling any mayoral candidate stupid is unnecessary.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

At the moment... *fingers crossed for a more transit-friendly federal government in 2015*

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Even if the ridership numbers and density figures suggest a subway doesn't make sense? (hypothetically speaking)

Has there been any thought about extending the Eglinton Crosstown to Eglinton/Kingston one day (completely separate from the Malvern LRT)?

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

The best way to find out what Tory, Soknacki, Chow and Stintz think about the Sheppard LRT is to ask them (on twitter/facebook). I think it's best that we raise our voices now and at least get the media asking them questions about the Sheppard LRT. I think Tory is smart enough not to support...

Thanks! I missed that. Note to self: carefully read posted link.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

From a layman's perspective, is it not incredibly short-sighted of Metrolinx to make it impossible to extend the Eglinton Crosstown? I was taught in school that building in extension provisions for any project is a must, as transit dynamics change over the years and extensions may be warranted...

What Rob Ford says: "SUBWAYS SUBWAYS SUBWAYS" How Rob Ford will probably vote: Nay

    2014 Municipal Election: Mississauga

He probably has a good chance of winning back his old federal seat, with a new Liberal leader and many polls showing interest in the federal Liberals.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Royson James has labelled Tory as a centrist in that article, which I kind of agree with. I have a feeling that Tory's campaign will shift itself to the centre and try to establish itself as a big-tent option to Ford and Chow. These next few months should be interesting!

Has a relocation of Oriole GO station ever been considered? The current set up is such a wasted opportunity and moving the GO station next to the Leslie subway station would increase system connectivity. Hopefully GO is aware of this.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

That's valid, as is the Gormley example mentioned by insertnamehere. I'd hope that they'd just go right to Cambridge if possible. There would probably have to be an operational reason for them to decide to only extend service to highway 6 rather than Cambridge proper (CP having more operational...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I don't think GO would extend the Milton line to a park & ride facility in the middle of nowhere. If GO extends the Milton line in the future, it'll probably be to Cambridge rather than highway 6. There's nothing around highway 6 to justify a station.

Toronto Councillors and Mississauga Council want their cities removed from OMB

If Toronto council would listen to their planning staff (who abide by the provincial planning legislation) and vote based on the legal merits of a project rather than political merits, the OMB wouldn't be the big, bad monster that council says it is. The OMB removes the politics and NIMBYism...
