Sharon Yetman's Subway Safety Plan (Better barrier for subways 'an obsession')

what barriers are they talking about? because many stations (take the Jubilee line in London) uses barriers.. I don't understand why she is taking credit for a barrier system. It's been done before. The reason why Toronto hasn't done it is because the system is not automated. It's difficult to...

    Wi-Fi service underground

The TTC shouldn't charge/earn a penny for implementing service underground. They should guide the phone companies in to add the service (i.e. infrastructure installation). Why does everything need to be revenue focused? The service is a service, we are paying $50 a month for service and we pay...

    TTC: Customer Service

Giambrone can only be responsible for so much. He doesn't provide job training, scheduling of shifts, or anything that concerns front line workers. He is merely a liason between Council and the Commission. Making sure that they budget correctly, provide ideas and innovation within reason...

    Toronto Toronto | CN Tower: Entry Pavilion, Plaza, Renos | ?m | ?s | CLC | Arcadis

ah i finally saw that you were talking about.the space ship effect i mean. i really don't like it, since it is a bit trippy (for lack of a better word). Just giving you guys a heads up, there will be something interesting planned for the Olympic Games

    Wi-Fi service underground

i don't think they should monopolize wi-fi/cell service underground. If they(mobile service providers) wanted to provide the cell service they should do it be it should be seen as a service upgrade like expanding their network. Wi-fi is another issue. you get charged an arm and a leg for...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

apart from the solid, sparkle and fade. i have no idea what they are trying.

    Smart Centre developments

when i saw the thread title I said to myself "seriously? best and Smart Centre shouldn't be in the same sentence". I just feel like the faux-ness of architecture and the grey, dull, boring cement walls and vast parking lots are just overkill. I absolutely detest smart centres. I live about 5...

Built Books on Architecture (New Book Store in Toronto!)

I went there last week.... i'm sorry but i'm not 'feeling it'....I was however really impressed that they had tattoos for your hand so you can jot down "to do's" in a straight line! :) I miss Ballenfords :'(

AH! It's nice to meet the photographer of this postcard. I work at the Tower and we sell a ton of these! you should create 8.5 x 11 versions of this. it's absolutely stunning!

Spate of Pedestrian Deaths in GTA

Some drivers don't even know about that rule at yonge and dundas. almost got hit twice last year. yesterday i was heading to Union (along Front street heading west). I came to the intersection of Front and York where drivers were creating grid-lock like there was no tomorrow (going southbound...

Sharon Yetman's Subway Safety Plan (Better barrier for subways 'an obsession')

agreed! the main reason why i joined UT was to view this and get updates lol i just found it hilarious. Fresh Start, you made a really good point. "express service" is immediately shut down without the extra infrastructure or parallel line to accommodate it.

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

There is extreme fitness at yonge and dundas and another one just north of queen (if i can recall correctly) and south of King..do we really need another gym along that strip? C & B would be nice!

    Wi-Fi service underground

The reason why i said RIM wouldn't be able to set out a network "that big" is because they aren't a service provider like bell or rogers. RIM is a wireless/handheld device maker. Can they pay for the infrastructure? yes. Will they need to partner with a service provider? I'm assuming so. it's...

    Wi-Fi service underground

well RIM won't be able to have access to something that big. Didn't the TTC set out an RFP for wi-fi/cell service? or was that proposed? i can't remember.

    TTC: Customer Service

thanks RedRocket191, Essentially what I am trying to say is that you cannot point all fingers at employees living outside of Toronto for the TTC's shoddy customer service skills. There are other things too. Do people understand why riders are frustrated in the first place? Is it because they...

    Suddenly...Windmills! Millions of them!

I love Windmills. I just wish people were more open to the idea and not believe that windmills far away from you will harm you. *cough* http://www.savethebluffs.ca & http://www.savethetorontobluffs.com *cough*. Installing an little anemometer (barely visible to the eye since it was so far away...

    Wi-Fi service underground

In Northern Kentucky, TANK (Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky) installed Wi-Fi service on all buses and reported an increase in ridership since many people travelling to Cincinnati to work would normally drive (lets say for 20mins) so that they could be productive at work by arriving faster...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

at first i was all for Giambrone (and i still am). However, after Rossi's platform was released I would be happy with anyone but Rocco Rossi (unless they have an equally absurd platform). I really hope Torontonian's don't buy into his ideology.
