Alexander The Great Parkette Revitalization (Greektown BIA, FFLA)

Cars would be religiously ticketed along Danforth, Ellerbeck, and Hurndale a few years ago. Seems like that never carried more eastwards.

I wouldn't assume this as a given. Anything that might be viewed as even a little bit woke will be on the chopping block, especially if it goes counter to big lobbying agencies!

    VIA Rail

I was on one recently that was five hours delayed due to the flooding in Toronto and various track issues throughout Ontario. Train sat at Oshawa for over an hour which meant the AC turned off and the train became very warm!

Classic BIA, but I'm also in the these-streets-should-be-pedestrianized camp and I know I won't be satisfied very often.

Alexander The Great Parkette Revitalization (Greektown BIA, FFLA)

Agree with those disappointed that it's effectively the same as it was pre-renovation. There was a chance here to remove the on-street parking and bump the square out a bit more to both provide more space for pedestrians and to slow vehicles down as they drive northwards on Logan. As someone who...

    VIA Rail

The post from a few days ago claiming that service standards had fallen in business class was still on my mind so I timed things out on my business class trip last night. 1730 priority and business pre-boarding 1745 emergency window run through and ticket scan 1748 depart Ottawa 1755 menu...

    Quebec-Windsor Corridor

Ford spends hundreds of millions to get out of an alcohol agreement a year early so cornerstores can sell beer and people think Ontario isn't calling an early election? All the man does is talk about beer during writ periods.

Regardless, the NDP aren't going to bring the government down and the LPC aren't going to call an election when they're down 20 points in the polls. Wait until after the US does theirs, then Ontario, then worry about the next federal election.

    VIA Rail

I don't find them all that different than delays at other times of year. If anything, there have been a lot of days where depending on the weather i'm more than happy to sit on the train than slide around on the 401.

How do you figure? NCAA hockey rinks in the US aren't typically all that large outside of a few outliers. Most of the big schools are in rinks akin to Paramount Fine Foods or CAA Centre.

    VIA Rail

I've been on plenty that have been on-time which I consider just as good. Early isn't really reasonable to expect given timetables and stops. Given that I take VIA very frequently and am experienced with the service and its hurdles I figure anything within twenty minutes of the arrival time to...

On a better note, I experienced my first 160kph on the Corridor and my train today was actually ten minutes early for the first time in a long time.

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

To say nothing of the fact that not only do fewer people live on the Napadogan sub but i'd wager nearly nobody does. Chipman, Juniper, and Plaster Rock are no Bathurst, Miramichi, etc. It's not going to happen, and it wouldn't make much sense for it to happen.

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

If there is ever a new passenger service added in NB it's between Saint John and Moncton. Fredericton has no rail. The province is controlled partly by an oil company which has a vested interest in ensuring people continue to drive instead of taking passenger rail. It's not happening.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Won't believe this story unless someone else comes out with it. Labour Day Sunday is such a strange time to break this.

According to UT the capacity is cut down to 4,600 and the venue would use the adjoining underground office parking lots for events. Fascinated to see how this venue fares compared to similar venues in Mississauga, Brampton, and Markham. My first instinct is that it will fare better based on...

Checked these just now and the Bond Park dock is already empty 😆

Similar to how it should be "Ottawa Fallowfield", although that would then turn my attention to an implied "Toronto Guildwood" 😛

I've taken the bus a few times from St-Laurent Station and I don't totally hate it. I wish it was more of an actual station instead of a bus stop but things could be worse - could always be the street behind Hudson's Bay.
