    Resort/casino expansion/retail?? Possibly a performing arts venue.

    Statscan numbers

I forget if these numbers have been posted yet, but the city government is forecasting (as of Spring 2024) for the city to exceed 1.6 million by 2029, and the CMA and “economic region” to approach 2 million and 2.1 million, respectively. I expected this, but still wild to see it in writing, with...

Do you mean for the green line? Or their commuter rail line?

Lol one thing at a time. We just had four buildings start up within a week and a half of each other, and a fifth earlier in the summer. We’ll get there one day.

I go by there all the time and realized the other day it is how they have absolutely no landscaping out front. It’s basically a mud and weed pit at the south end. The trees out front don’t even get tended to.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Haultain Park would be a good site for a school as well. You could manage a school nearly twice the size of St Monica (if built to 3 storeys) on the old school and tennis courts, and the playground and field already exists. Minimal negative impact to the public, and I’m sure we can find a place...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

We’re pretty much all aware of the restructuring of it. It is just another example of the rich getting richer, elitist garbage. So it may as well be closed,

Haha see! I said it about a month ago. Another crane or two in the sky for the downtown area 🥳

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

That elevated third street station offers an interesting opportunity to put the green line over the river and up Edmonton Trail, possibly turning west on 16th and then onto centre north, thereby keeping it all one line. It may not be ideal but I think it’s a pretty solid option given the issues...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

The CBE building would be a great site for a school. Demo that smaller building on the west side and build a new one and have a field going across the roofs of both. Might even be enough space on the northeast corner of the existing building for a playground.

    Weather and Gardening Discussion

Wowzers, we just ended the first 1/3 of September with an average high of 27° and a low of nearly 11°. I know we won’t finish off that way but damn that’s so far beyond average. We’ll still likely finish the month around 20°.

I believe ASI owns that lot. They’ve only released concepts, and it was ages ago. However, the pattern with ASI seems to be finalizing details about their next project as the preceding ones begin construction (The Fifth -> Enzo -> Francesco) so hopefully now that Francesco is gearing up we’ll...

I’d put our long term growth between 40 and 60 k a year, but could be higher, I don’t imagine lower other than if an unforeseen catastrophe happens. An average of 50,000 a year over the next 26 years is a growth of 1.3 million, add in the Foothills which will be added to the CMA by then, we’d...
