Last night they were ripping up the old, steel middle barrier from the 427 to Cawthra.

    Montréal Transit Developments

https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/vaudreuil-hudson-line-to-lose-up-to-20-per-cent-of-its-riders-exo-chief The hits keep coming for EXO. Destined to become an afterthought once the REM is fully operational. Sylvian claims that EXO does one thing better than REM, .... parking. Which I...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I don't like how East Harbour is so close to Union Station. Closer than Exhibition is to Union. The trains are going to move so slow between East Harbour and Union. I was on the Stouffville train heading back to Union about a week ago, and once we passed under the Don Valley, it felt as if we...

I'm done. Seriously. I'm going to join everyone else in blocking you. Goodbye.

    General railway discussions

I work as a crane operator at Brampton Intermodal. I've loaded more Canadian Tire containers onto CN trains and truck chassis then I care to remember. Your "great example" is a ridiculous idea and won't work. It would mess up the scheduling CN has for every train coming into and going out of the...

    Train Spotting

It's currently parked at the CNR Diesel shop in Montreal.

    VIA Rail

We entered GO train territory and right off the bat we got a red signal. Even the conductor got on the comm and announced we're in GO transit territory and to expect delays. The train was stopped long enough for me to snap this pic of the CN 401 bridge. Longest delay on the trip so far. We...

    VIA Rail

Just did a week long stint assisting at the CN yard in Montreal. I drove up here with a company car, but my boss needs to keep the car in Montreal and asked me to take the VIA train back down to Toronto. Taking train #67. Business lounge at the Dorval station is small compared to Ottawa and...

    General railway discussions

Just stop! Please. No more! Freight rail's networks being majority single track has nothing to do with the large amount trucks you're seeing on the highway. Trucks have to haul goods to southern Ontario because the closest container yard is in Brampton. Or what most likely happens, the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Or build LRT's where a subway would have been preferable. Such as Eglinton.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I would say there's probably some counter peak demand for stations like Kipling, Cooksville, Erindale (UTM students).

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

I mean, Metrolinx is refurbishing those old cab cars. So a move like this shouldn't come as a surprise. It's interesting how they sold some of their original F59's to EXO, only now to be buying some more back from Caltrain. My only concern with the F59's is they're limited to moving 6 coaches...

Homelessness on GTA Transit (catch all)

The reluctance to invest in tech and automation by Canadian businesses stems from the fact that the Feds make it so easy to acquire cheap labour in this country. Just file a LMIA report. Look at the United States before the Civil War. The North, which banned slavery, went all in on factories...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Maybe they had no MP locomotives available for the Niagara run, and had to resort to using the F59? Don't they usually use the F59's for the Niagara runs?

Homelessness on GTA Transit (catch all)

I saw kids on the train and worry about their exposure to such things. It could potentially traumatize them. On the flip side, it'll hopefully scare them from ever wanting to do such drugs. Showing them the harsh realities of life at an early age will hopefully set them on the straight & narrow...

Homelessness on GTA Transit (catch all)

I got on around 3pm. So I don't think it had anything to do with the morning cold. But yes, the cold weather is going to make the situation worst. The homeless guy I was talking with told me he got his cheque today for $40 and I overheard two other homeless guys behind me talk about how they...

Homelessness on GTA Transit (catch all)

Was off work today and bored, so I decided to go check out some GO construction. Got off at Union and rode Line 1 to Bloor-Yonge. I don't live in Toronto and don't often ride the subway, but it sure seemed to me that there were more homeless than usual. It made for an unpleasant experience. I...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Took some photos of Kennedy GO station today. When are they going to knock down the old Scarborough RT track to allow for the extension of the western platform? Most of the work seemed to be taking place in the parking lot and inside the station building. The station is still closed off. I'm...

Homelessness on GTA Transit (catch all)

So many people out on the streets don't like staying in shelters. Claim they're too noisy, too much harassment, can't get their fix cause they're not allowed to "light up" within the shelters. Some homeless will stay at a shelter over night, but then go back out onto the streets during the day...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I don't think that's a fair assessment. I'm not trying to sound like a Metrolinx fanboy, but they're doing a lot more for the GO train network than just about any other commuter/regional rail network in N.A. I imagine their workforce is stretched fairly thin with all the work they have going on...
