To be honest, while I enjoyed their burgers, I much preferred them when they were The Local Omnivore -- their menu was just a lot more appealing. I'm excited to see what they have planned next. It sounds like they have something else planned.

Well, not just Avonmore -- the article also mentions a plethora of other stops that don't exist yet:

^^I know in my condo building, someone just sold a 2 bedroom for the highest price our building has seen in 18 months. Only one data point, sure, but maybe a glimmer of hope.

    Edmonton | The Mercury Block | 21.7m | 6s

Manchester Square's location is a little awkward -- it's sandwiched by light industrial and park (cemetery!) space on two sides. Mercury Block has access to better density and transit connections, not to mention frequent pop-up events like the Sunday farmer's market on 102 Ave. Maybe it'll have...

    Municipal Politics

Whether or not she's attending that particular UCP fundraiser in her "capacity" as a city councilor seems a bit debatable, but I'm more disappointed that she would do this in the first place, even in an "unofficial" or "personal" capacity.

Edmonton's population is booming, where are all the new proposals?

Within a few blocks of my home in Inglewood, I can count at least six SFHs that have been demo'd and replaced by 4-plexes. At least half of those 4-plexes have basement suites and a garage suite. "Gentle densification" in action.

Was the "by Louisiana Purchase" part of the signage a newer addition? I walked by many times (it was never busy inside) and never noticed that before. I had no idea that the two restaurants were affiliated.

    Edmonton | Peak Tower | 99.06m | 23s | Lighthouse HM | Davignon Martin

I initially thought: "no, that isn't legal", but the window requirement under the Minimum Housing and Health Standards contains various exceptions, particularly for taller buildings. 3(b) Emergency Egress (i) For buildings of 3 storeys or less and except where a bedroom door provides access...

Hasn't that been up for at least a couple years now (if not longer)?

Nature is healing. Fantastic news. Brochu is the original Chartier chef (if I'm not mistaken), so you know the menu will be good.

I have a strange mix of deep respect and extreme contempt for Vegas. If only the Oilers had a GM as shrewd in the McDavid era...

    Downtown Crime

For those who haven't read said post, it's here and it's a very powerful read. The Premier owes this person an apology, but we all know that will never happen. As for Horner, it does have a vague air of Jason Kenney's frequent tall tales (e.g. the crying Venezuelan entrepreneurs), but who knows.

    LDA23-0233 Windsor Park Rezoning - 116st - 88ave - 23m - Proposed

Puneeta was so excited for it but it's fair to say that reality did not live up to the hype. From just over a year ago: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/university-of-alberta-1.6725003

    Municipal Politics

The UCP hates the UofA. This predates Danielle Smith: Kenney's biggest PSE cuts were directed at the UofA, and even the so-called "moderate" Redford also took a hatchet to the UofA budget in 2013 -- all this despite Edmonton being well-represented by Tory MLAs at the time.
