    Municipal Politics

There's not really a stronger candidate right now who might make the run tbh (for me at least). Unless someone like Notley or a former/current NDP MLA puts their name on the running. It's the spoiler effect for the other right of centre candidates, especially if it becomes a close election...

    Municipal Politics

If the progressive vote coalesces into one candidate (probably Sohi if he runs again) and there's 3-4 right of centre candidates, then I don't see as much of a path to the mayor's office for Cartmell tbh. Caterina (and Sandhu along with what other candidates pop up) running is the biggest issue...

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

International Clothiers just opened right by the larger Ardene location on the east portion of ECC. It's not fancy retail but it's retail and a vacancy removed so good news?

I’ll sell my kidney and help fundraise capital with that if that means Phase II goes quicker.

I'm also guessing secondary suites, rowhomes and garage suites are considered ground rather than apartment starts too? It's not just SFH's that are zooming through the roof here.

    Downtown

Honestly the dream scenario for the Quarters (for me) would be that it somehow turns into something like Flushing’s Chinatown in Queens. I feel like that fits the area more than East Village 2.0 Edmonton edition.

    General Food & Dining Thread

It does help that a lot of the more unique dining/cafe establishments are located downtown. I wonder when we’re going to reach critical mass for that? Glass Cafe is also opening up on the corner of 101 and Jasper Ave and I’m sure more restaurants/bars will open up soon. It just seems if you want...

    Neighbourhood Renewal

Zoning bylaw was probably also a matter of financial necessity rather than just plain urban planning.

Caterina and a former PC candidate? With Cartmell possibly running too? Are they all trying to split the vote?

    Arc Smart Fare System

They've had these in Corona for a few weeks now. Cool to see this nonetheless.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Probably higher for weekday ridership, and lower for weekend, so we're probably 10000+ at least minimum on weekday riders.

Can't wait for all the online hate on Blatchford by people who haven't been there in years even with all this development lol

    LRT Safety

Gotta say Transit Watch is extremely responsive and extremely pleased with them. I wish they were promoted more and had an easy number to remember (like 311).

It'll probably lease up with students, couples and families decently enough. I've got utmost confidence based on vibes that Falcon Two will happen soon. I wouldn't mind the same building but taller and with glossier balcony windows tbh.

    Downtown Crime

Online petition to the Ghermezian family to provide WEM security to downtown to shame EPS?

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Tbh I'm not worried that the Valley Line won't keep growing its ridership. As more development continues around it (and that is happening, take a walk around Avonmore for example), and as downtown continues to grow and recover (which is also happening, big difference of fall 2024 to fall 2023)...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

The Valley Line coming every 5 min is probably gold standard. I can't emphasize how less stressed I am as a commuter rather than driving to downtown for work and I'm sure others feel the same.
