Call me crazy but I'm still hopeful that Phase II proceeds faster than their "3 years from now" timeframe.

    Edmonton | Riley's 108 Street Redevelopment | 20.2m | 6s | J+S Architect

Hopefully we see more multifamily developments break ground in the core, especially as that juicy interest rate cut is coming this week.

    Municipal Politics

Yeah Oshry has been positively vile on Twitter over the last year. Extremely glad he was a failed mayoral candidate.

Honestly it seems like a lot of these indoor retail areas cater more towards office workers than anything else. I didnt even know there were stores in these areas till I started exploring the pedway system.

    Municipal Politics

This was immensely interesting to see regarding exempt properties from property taxes.

    Edmonton Real Estate Market

Yup! I remember reading that on here too, and during the downtown housing grant discussions when it got brought up to council as well. Here's hoping because we need new developments to speculate on this forum.

    10507 to 10539–124 Street NW - Casia Developments - 2 x up to 27 - Proposed

Yeah, developments like these are probably what might properly turn 124 St into another Whyte Ave, especially with a Valley Line stop nearby. More people = more customers, regardless of "neighbourhood character" concerns.

    General Food & Dining Thread

L'oca seems better placed if it was where Freson Bros was in Glenora, or even the Brewery District.

More positive news from CBRE's Q3 report about downtown.

    Downtown

That's thousands more for possible retail catered to a younger demographic (looking at you Foosh and other equivalents), cafes, food courts and transit and general downtown foot traffic. That's a fast growing relatively untapped consumer base right there. Plop an H&M somewhere and get that ball...

Decent news from the H1 Retail Report from CBRE about downtown

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

https://myemail.constantcontact.com/News-Release---Transit-ridership-outpaces-population-growth.html?soid=1127191170163&aid=dtW8YX_6RXM "ETS is on track to move nearly 60 million riders in 2024, up from 53 million riders in 2023. The opening of the 13-kilometre Valley Line Southeast LRT in...

    Downtown

What exactly is the silver bullet for that? We're seeing more residents, increased foot traffic from workers and students. Foosh opening up in 104 could herald something more for smaller scale Whyte Ave retail but at the end of the day does someone need to just take a risk on downtown retail at...

    Miscellaneous

Please, Burnaby has a tower planned that'll eclipse Stantec in height. We need to show those snobby lower mainlanders who's boss.

    Edmonton | Stationlands Residential Towers | 90m | 25s | Qualico | DIALOG

Should be on Stony Plain Road near 156 St. No idea what the building's fate is though.

George Spady is also moving next year as well and that's right by this development too. If the Hope Mission in Dovercourt also pushes through then that could contribute to some changes as well.

    Edmonton | Mill Woods Town Centre Redevelopment | ?m | ?s

This is probably going to lease up extremely fast, especially from international immigrants too. Hopefully the snippet about them being able to charge higher rents at their Garneau property means other projects get started too.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Door removal has made the stations much less dilapidated. As sad as it is, that’s the right decision right now.
