Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

15,000 is a pretty good number considering we started quite low. I'm curious to see the numbers September onwards, trains are much more packed now than before during peak hours. A one car train is essentially standing room only nowadays.

No they're fully gone and removed! The sliding ones at least.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Gotta say, ridership has certainly improved since school started, lots of university and kids in general too. Slightly frustrating that there's weird power delays today and yesterday for both LRT lines, not a great look and introduction to the system. Automatic sliding doors have also been...

    Downtown

Foosh in 104 could also attract students from Norquest and MacEwan. Hopefully it inspires others to set up shop in the area. I still think downtown has an untapped student consumer base that's only set to grow year on year.

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Yeah I genuinely don't get the talk of the Valley Line being a failure. Has it been off to a slow start? Sure, but as a daily commuter on it, it does get busy at peak hours and is immensely appreciated. TOD's while slower, have popped up, and doesn't count for the skinnies, garage suites and...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

A slowdown in construction wouldn't be the end of the world if we weren't facing massive population growth tbh.

    The Parks | 146.91m | 45s | 35s | 13s | Pangman | Hariri Pontarini

The stretch of Jasper right before 109 St facing east is probably one of my favourite photo spots for downtown. It just looks so urban, and the Parks being in the background does so much for it. If a future train station does end up in the Canterra lot, it would be a nice introduction to...

https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/canada-s-inflation-rate-falls-to-2-5-paving-way-for-another-interest-rate-cut-1.7006941 It seems like they're expecting rate cuts at every meeting now. I'm guessing this bodes well for multi-family development in the city?

    LRT Safety

Things have been definitely better even without special events. There's still issues here and there (even what I see) but there has been a noticeable increase in TPO's handing out tickets and patrolling. I still think permanent TPO presence in Churchill should be a priority, but I've been seeing...

    Edmonton | Stationlands Residential Towers | 90m | 25s | Qualico | DIALOG

George Spady (which is right by this) is moving next year to Stony Plain Road. In some small steps, the decentralization of social services is happening away from downtown. Plus its $1300 for a one bedroom besides the Ice District, with vacancy rates as low as they are, people are going to move...

    10921 - JASPER AVENUE NW -

Is this our first major DP in downtown in a while? Good to see, and will make the area feel more urban.

It's also the UCP base getting uppity that she's not going far enough.

    Edmonton | Iron Horse Line / Station Park | ?m | 6s | Beljan Development | Hodgson Schilf Evans

I checked this out a week before and I'm not sure if it's just me but the view and the vibe genuinely makes it feel like a "big city" amenity. Great to see and would love more projects like this maybe in Wihkwentowin or downtown itself!

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Yes because what Hermitage needs is a road the size of Jasper ave lol One good thing with the expansion of scooters and e-bikes throughout the city is that it'll highlight that these areas need proper active transportation infrastructure.

Once again, how much financing does Westrich have?? Dudes are plopping projects everywhere.

As BIPOC myself, I genuinely get really mad about the whole "white urbanist" argument regarding curbing sprawl. The main reason many parents of BIPOC Gen Z's like me moved to the suburbs is because they were cheap. There's also the factor of multigenerational housing being not as available in...

Was just here and Ardene seems to have expanded next door to their old spot, and it's a bigger space too. Idk, positive sign retail wise?

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

If I remember, it's 103A avenue that's covered, but 99 St isn't. I could be wrong but they're still seeking funding for the 99 st portion
